Thanks for using Apple Support Communities for this issue, Niallatc.
It appears that since you updated your iPhone SE to iOS 10.1.1 your battery life isn't lasted as expected. I'll be glad to help you with this.

I am experiencing the issue on my 5S. Prior to installing 10.1.1 I could go a full day without worrying about battery life, the very day I installed 10.1.1 I can go at best 4 hours. The battery cuts off at about 70% and will not let me back in until I charge the phone. I have followed all battery saving suggestions from the different web sites; the fact is I implemented those suggestions several releases ago. I have done a complete backup and factory reset and that has not helped. I have gone to the genius bar and they confirmed the battery is in good shape. I went to my carrier and had a new sim installed, no help. APPLE PLEASE HELP!! My next step is to roll back to version 10.1, please do not make me do that; if I end up doing that I will never be able to trust Apple releases again.

I've been having this same issue too after installing 10.1.1 on my iPhone 6S.

For some reason, the phone shuts off even when the batter life is around 65-70%.

My iPhone 6S is currently running Version "10.1.1 (14B100)" after the last over-the-air update; Settings > General > About > Version.

I just hooked up my iPhone to my computer via iTunes to charge and was prompted to update my iPhone (again) to version 10.1.1 (even though it was already installed). I ran the update and checked the version again, which is now "10.1.1 (14B150)".

Since I didn't see any new release notes, I don't know what changes are made. Likely it's a bunch of background stuff for the pending 10.2 update, but hopefully if there's a bad code line causing the battery issue, it was fixed. I'll see how the battery does the rest of the day.

This is a well known issue with Apple, so the answer given earlier about "Maximizing Lifespan" is nonsense due to this is because of the update 10.1.1 , it also appears to give various values whilst connected to the charger. After the reset using POWER+HOME it crashes as it would be empty. I am now installing 10.2 beta as this would solve the issue. Restoring to IPSW 10.1 will help as well.

I'll keep you posted about the installment of 10.2 beta on the iPhone 5S

Don't waste your time on rolling back to 10.1. I unfortunately confirmed faysal22's comment that 10.1 does not work. My phone is lasting about 3 hours now. Instead of the battery shutting down at 70% it is now shutting down at 85%. I cannot tell you how many calls I have been bumped from. BTW, when it happens my phone is essentially dead for about 10 minutes before I can use it again. I have not seen / read and acknowledgement from Apple ... Google's Pixel is beginning to look more and more interesting.

i have the iphone6 and the update. all i can do lately is send a few texts on a full charge. after 10 minutes and a few texts i am completely without a phone.

i for sure cant search the web or use apps unless i am connected on a power cord.

as i write this reply i am watching the battery percentage points drop from 96% to 84%..82%.... like there's a hole in the phone and all the battery jiuce is pouring out... 82% ....78%...

i checked my storage recently and have used a sliver of total GB.

down to 73% now. need to hit done button because i know phone's going to shut down any second. .... 49%

weird thing is, when i plug into pwer and it comes back on, its back up to very high percentage charged..
