FCP Mc Braniacs challenge

Okay, here we go...

My stats are as follows... G4 1.5 GB SDRAM
dual 1Ghz 2MB L3 cache per pross.
Iam using the current Tiger software.

The project....our wedding video edited for a family christmas present.
here's the situation.
I currently have 20 GB's on my Mac Hd.
I have 9 GB's on my 2nd HD - scrach disk.

I've been working on ther Wed vid. everything's great, then all of a sudden, the DREADED spinning beach ball. I rebooted and NO 2nd HD.

i did the disk REPAIR, thhe delete pref.'s ect. and the 2nd HD came back i openup FCP 4.5 adn the spinning beach ball is back more than ever. It won't leave, i shut downa dn no more 2nd HD which is where my wedding Video is at. I'm loving my PC so much right now. HELP, xmas is right around the corner.

Go directly to the store and get a copy of Disk Warrior. Do not pass go. Run it on your 2nd hard drive ASAP.

9gb out of how many? Keep at least 10% free space on ALL drives. Dump or move some files if needed.

i wish it were that easy. My 2nd HD is no where to be found. It's not onmy HD. wazup with that.

Look in the System Profiler and in Disk Utilities and see if it shows in either. If it does, try to mount it in Disk Utilities and then go get that copy of Disk Warrior to see if it can be repaired. If it doesn't get Disk Warrior anyway and see if it shows up in that.

I know it doens;t appear in disk utilities, I AM MAINLY A PC GUY, but am inavigating my way around Mac. how do i check systems profiler?

It's in Applications/Utilities - or - go to the Apple menu (upper left of the screen) and click on "About This Mac." When the info window opens, click on the 'More Info' button and look under the ATA section (for internal) or the Firewire (for external).

Get a copy of Disk Warrior - there may still be hope. Have you rebooted again?

yeah i reboooted. disk warrior may work. i've never had this problem. but it seems that the more space i take up in my MAc the more problems it had. i gues i can get disk warrior anywhere mac store, etc. will this work, even if i can't find my 2nd HD, but then again the problem could be in my Mac /main HD, right?

Unless you're having other problems (booting, Finder issues, etc), I doubt the problem has anything to do with your system (main) drive. In all likelihood, you've got directory corruption or a physical problem with the 2nd drive.

Couple of other things to try - Apps>Utilities>Disc Utility see if that will see it.

You may be able to Mount from there.
Also Toast is worth a crack as well if you don't have Disk Warrior at the moment - for a Mount.

If you do get the drive up then copy the relevant files off. You can also wade through your render files and prolly delete heaps of stuff from other proj's that are not necessary.
You may find that by deleting a few gigs that fcp will behave itself.

Even if you do get up and running again without DW you'll want to give that disc a good working over with DW so don't horse around by delaying.

No need to wait for the computer store to open. Go here,

and click on Buy Now. Buy it and download it now. The downloaded version that you will install will work fine for your second drive. They will send you a disc that will work for your boot volume as well.

Okay i just got disk warrior, i'm going to ry it, i have another question, will disk Warrior also repair external HD's i have one that sometimes goes Gluk, gluk, gluk gluk. does'nt sound good, could DW help that HD too. thanks,
