FCP Mc Braniacs challenge

Okay, here we go...

My stats are as follows... G4 1.5 GB SDRAM
dual 1Ghz 2MB L3 cache per pross.
Iam using the current Tiger software.

The project....our wedding video edited for a family christmas present.
here's the situation.
I currently have 20 GB's on my Mac Hd.
I have 9 GB's on my 2nd HD - scrach disk.

I've been working on ther Wed vid. everything's great, then all of a sudden, the DREADED spinning beach ball. I rebooted and NO 2nd HD.

i did the disk REPAIR, thhe delete pref.'s ect. and the 2nd HD came back i openup FCP 4.5 adn the spinning beach ball is back more than ever. It won't leave, i shut downa dn no more 2nd HD which is where my wedding Video is at. I'm loving my PC so much right now. HELP, xmas is right around the corner.

OK, no guarantees, but here's a suggestion. Your statement, "when i turned on my mac this morning my 2nd HD was back on my desktop." is a hint that perhaps your problem is heat induced. If you leave the computer off long enough to cool down, you may have your 2nd HD for a little while untl the connections or internal boards heat up enough to cause the fault. Try shutting down the computer and leaving it off long enough to completely cool down. Then, with a plan for which files you need to rescue from disk 2, boot up again and if you have your 2nd disk again, IMMEDIATELY copy the important files to another disk before the machine heats up and you have a thermal fault again. You may only have a couple of minutes of disk use.
