Wifi keeps dropping in Windows 10 (BootCamp) on new tbMBP 15"

Keeps dropping and reconnecting. Pretty sure it's not the wifi because on MacOS and my iPhone, both have stable connections. It's probably a driver issue, anyone know a fix?

Thanks for the clarification. On a single radio (it seems to be a 2.4G one), if there is a device connected at 802.11b, it usually causes problem for devices on 802.11g/n. Is there a 5G radio in the VZ router/gateway? If you disconnect all other devices, and try only the W10 Mac, does the performance improve? I used to have a 424WR Rev F, and I did not use it much, because of similar issues. Does changing the channel make any difference? Is the Channel set to auto?

Loaner, I understand that you are just trying to help here, and it is duly appreciated. Believe me. I work in the field of IT myself. Patience is a virtue in this field.

But why is every other device in my house able to connect to my wifi network without problems?

Why is it that it works fine in OSX? but not Windows 10 64 bit? (well as fine as I can tell)

Does anyone know of a freeware utility that is similar to Acrylic wifi?

So here are some basics here to play "One of these things is not like the other"

- iPhone 5, 6 plus, 7 Plus (all connect fine with proper speed tests)

- Mac Book Air 2011 (connects fine in osx Sierra with proper speeds and no drop off)

- Thinkpad (connects fine in windows 10 with proper speeds and no drop off)

- iPad 2 (connects fine with proper speeds and no drop off)

Macbook Pro 2016 15" Fully built out can only connect properly on osx side

On windows 10 64 bit with all drivers fully up to date from Apple, as well as Windows 10 64 but fully updated from windows update itself, (connectivity problems galore)

Or is this a way to help narrow down the problem enough in order to stream information to apple in order to get apple to fix what is broken?

The tbMBPs are new, and have a host of issues with BC Drivers. Your specific issue may help narrow down what may be a bug (or bugs) in the W10 BC driver.

iStumbler used to be free, but is now a commercial tool. Acrylic WiFi is a very nice tool. If you are comfortable with Wireshark and looking at WLAN frames, then it may be an option.

I tweaked the router settings to work in performance mode. N only.

This router is actually not a dual band router. It only operates on the 2.4 Ghz mode. Surprisingly Verizon Fios uses pretty cheap routers unless you spring for the $199.99 Quantum Router.... 😐 Typical.

Anyway.... I checked the performance and still found band performance breaks. Even though I isolated the least used channel as well as the least amount of noise. I still don't get 100 % signal when I am 6 feet away from the router. Nothing blocking line of sight. I had it at channel 3 then moved it to 5. Notice how the signal dramatically drops from -50 db to -85 db, this gets poor speed test performance (about 3 mbps down to 4 mbps up)

Beyond that, using Netspot in the OS X side I can see signal dv of around -39 and better with less congestion. Speed Tests confirm 23 mbps down and 25 mbps up

I actually have another wifi router that I believe is Dual band, I just have to dig it out of storage. I want to see if I get the same response on the 5 GHZ band that I do on the 2.5 ghz band.

Yesterday I went into the apple store and they are scheduled to give me a replacement mac for another issue that seems to be pointing to hardware. The battery on my TbMBP is only lasting 2.5 to 3 hours.. That definitely falls short of expectations. They ran some hardware tests on the unit and with a new adapter in the store out of the box as well as my own adapter that came with the TbMBP and it was giving charging errors. I urge all TbMBP users to check their battery remaining time on their units, if you are depleting about 10% charge every 10 minutes, and no apps are using significant energy, go to the apple store right away, don't wait.

In the interim Apple engineering has reached back out to me to gather additional details, so hopefully that will push this issue forward to get fixed.

Diabling 802.11a has produced promising results for me, too. My connection speed (as reported by Windows) jumped up to 144 Mbps, and speeds are noticeably faster. It's only been about 15 minutes, but I hope that your report of stability holds true for me, as well.

EDIT: Responded too soon... Speeds were better initially, but in the end stability is unchanged. Becomes unusable within 30 minutes.
