Wifi keeps dropping in Windows 10 (BootCamp) on new tbMBP 15"

Keeps dropping and reconnecting. Pretty sure it's not the wifi because on MacOS and my iPhone, both have stable connections. It's probably a driver issue, anyone know a fix?

Careful Scott, you can't say here that the problem is fixed - you'll be accused of not spending 24 hours testing it to verify the issue is fixed. 😝

I'd venture there are people in this thread who are using Windows full-time on their MacBooks rather than macOS, and they might see issues someone like me (who's using macOS 99% of the time on his MacBook) simply won't see.

I do hope Apple is continuing to work on this and will release new drivers that make it solid for everyone.

Unless users can specify the environment in which they are successful or unsuccessful, 'working' is a very ambiguous state. For example see the specific environment that Kippy Kip referenced. It would be good to see test results with environmental details, to further narrow down problematic areas. Is the driver perfect, unlikely? If you OS X and Windows behave identically for an equal amount of time, then in your specific environment, the driver is adequate, but it may not be in others. 😉

Couldn't agree more, jasondunn. I can say it is fixed for me though, and given that Apple did provide an updated driver it would make sense for anyone that doesn't have it, but is suffering from this issue to install it and see if the issue still exists. If so, we can go from there. Certainly there are many other issues that can cause this symptom, including misconfiguration, but always good to start with the more likely, and simplist steps, don't you think 🙂

so ive installed the program, but couldnt really see what kind of connection it is. (802 etc).

Only thing i see is the SSID code and that im not connecting to a 5ghz connection but a 2.4 band.

Also i tried what Kippy kip said, but that didnt work out for me sadly.

And on the apple updater i didnt see any updates to my network adapters (only basic itunes updates).

So looks like if I leave it after a boot just like that, it connects automatically after sometime (not immediately on boot) or sometimes after about 2-3 mins, if I manually try to connect it connects to the network, but the speeds are horrendously slow compared to OSX. Don't know how this suddenly happened or maybe I was not patient enough to wait for it to connect after that time, but at least one step forward. The speeds however are quite slow, maybe the next driver set will be better.

If you have read the entire thread, you have already read about the .64 vs .68 driver versions available in Windows.

Based on my testing with a 15-in tbMBP 2016 and Windows 10...

1. BT and WiFi on 2.4G interfere with one another.

2. Driver version .64 will not connect to 802.11n 5G, but will only connect to 2.4G and 802.11ac 5G.

3. Driver version .68 will connect to 802.11n 5G, but 802.11ac 5G does not work.

Neither driver is a stable driver. The MX2 Radio dongle should also be 2.4G.

The same hardware configuration works better in OS X.

Hi,

I've tried a lot to get this to work with an 802.11ac network stably. But no luck, it's clearly a bug with the Broadcom driver. I recall having a similar issue when I had a Dell XPS 9550, which I solved by changing to internal adapter (not an option her obviously).

There are a few events that coincide with the disconnect most notably the driver restarts, almost like a panic. The spikes in latency I can't account for.

I spoke to Apple, they said contact Microsoft, I spoke to Microsoft they said contact Apple.

I've raised a bug report with Apple, but in all honestly I hold very little hope of this getting rectified any time soon, since it's been an on going issue since release, and it appears very little QA goes into the Windows Drivers. Which ***** considering the cost of these Notebooks.

Only stable solution I can recommend in the short term is to use a USB adapter, although that is a huge work around.

It would be useful if everyone that has the issue, opens a bug report and also leaves feedback, so this gets picked up by the right support team.
