How do you know is software? which part of the error log does tell you that?

You should read the whole thread before making asinine comments like the one above.

I filed a bug. Apple Engineering is aware of the issue. They are working on it. I will leave it at that.

CATERR detected! No MCA data found.

My issue seems to have gone away with recent macOS updates. If you are fully updated and still experience the iissue I would recommend contacting Apple support.

Well so much for shutting off wi-fi before putting the MBP to sleep, it started happening again. Guess I have no choice but to go to the Apple Store.

Spoke with someone at the AppleStore the other day, Apple seems to think it has something to do with the wireless card. There are talks of a recall.

I always shut my wi-fi off before putting my MBP to sleep; seems to do the trick

momentary solution perhaps...I spent 3k for a working device, I’m afraid apple is cheating with a firmware workaround by turning off the airport when u close the lid.

I have the same issue on a new 15in touchbar Mac. Three co-workers have the same issue. Inspecting the logs does not help me understand what Chrome is doing to cause hangups.

Same thing happened to me when making a time machine backup over wifi! Problem seemed to have disappeared until I updated to 10.13.2 (17C205)
