2016 Macbook Pro 15" Palm Rejection Issue

I've had my 2016 Macbook Pro 15" for about a week now, and I love most of it except for the fact that the palm rejection on the track pad is not nearly good enough for (my) normal typing. I'm a longtime MacBook Pro user, and have never had any issues with any trackpad while typing, but cannot make it more than 1 sentence on this model without the cursor doing something crazy and typing intra-sentence 2 paragraphs up. It's incredibly annoying.

I've resorted to simply keeping my wrists fully elevated while typing, but that is both uncomfortable and ridiculous for a $3k laptop. Are there any settings I can adjust or programs I can download to improve the palm rejection on this MacBook Pro? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Best,
David

Agree with your complaint. Someone at apple seems to think that if a large-ish trackpad was good, then a hilariously oversized trackpad must be better.

I tried covering the edges of the trackpad with paper but the trackpad (mis-)senses input through the paper.

Hopefully apple will put out a software update that will allow users to simply reject most of the hilariously oversized trackpad area. I dont need more than the usual small rectangle in the center of the trackpad.

Also hitting touch bar buttons by accident all the time. I basically disabled touch bar as much as possible in preferences to avoid this.

A lot of awful design decisions in this new macbook. Removal of magsafe, the new keyboard is horrible, etc.

This is driving me up the wall!!!!

I have to wear gloves for my carpal tunnel and the trackpad is ******* me off! I can't hover my wrists because it makes the pain too much to handle, and i can't rest my hands because the trackpad does not recognize the gloves as hands.

Seriously apple, between the touch bar and the terrible trackpad... what where you thinking????

I am down to 2-3 instances a day of falses now after using the palm pads (above post)... 11 bucks sure... but take your pick of poisons... an unusable 3 grand machine or one that only F's up 2-3 times per day ... i'll take that one! ;O HORRIBLE DESIGN by a company that is normally pretty good on that front... just don't know what anybody was thinking ....

Palm rejection on the new MacBook Pro is horrible. It simply does not work, and it hasn't worked properly since the system was released. I've never had this problem on any previous MacBook Pro.

Turning off tap to click and everything else doesn't help - there is no solution to this problem. Tons of people have this problem, but still no fix.

This issue is listed as "solved" but it is is not solved at all.

Apple, please fix this!!

have the very same issue David..... been a MBP user forever...and never had this problem... agree that now I have to keep wrists elevated off the deck... the wrist rests are completely useless cuz the trackpad is so big... I keep accidentally sending unfinished emails cuz the cursor goes somewhere random, and I keep typing til the letters do something crazy to the app....

this is very very frustrating.... will Apple or somebody figure out how to adjust??? I realize it's sensitive to be responsive, but it's really bad....

in fact it happened about 5 or 6 times just typing this note

AARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!

The new trackpad is so large, it takes TWO trackpad controllers to service it. From Users' reports, it appear the software to control this big trackpad suffers from communication problem between the two halves as well (for example, three finger gestures where fingers are placed on both sides of the midline do not always register correctly.)
