Ios 10.2 draining battery FAST!

Yup, this has been going on now on my phone and not only does it Drain the battery. It completely shuts down the phone says i to charge the battery when I have over 40% in the phone making it unusable!!! Soooo frustrating that Apple has become what I hated about the Android making me switch. But worse crashes and makes my device unusable for up to 5-10 minutes as I try to reboot and reboot then it just comes back and shows it's fine. APPLE SUPPORT I HOPE YOU ARE READING THIS!!!!

Speed1969racer: same here what u described - the phone is out of comission for 5 minutes or more till reboot on charger after dying at approx 40%. What this tells me is that clearly this is not just one bad phone but many are affected. Did this happen right after ios 10.2.1? Is your serial number contain QC as in FK1QC? Mine is a early launch model from september 2015. iPhone 6s 32 space grey. Lets see if we can pinpoint which phones are affected. I believe this particular glitch is affecting some subset of ppl but theres a variety of issues causing battery problems

For now charge ur phone right after 45-50% mark. Im carrying a powerbank w me. I am pretty sure they will realize this is a major issue and either software patch or do a h/w recall.

Great article on what to do for now (i found it comforting that someone cares about us?) Essentially: carry a battery power bank or battery case around. Curious - anyone here had apple swap their battery out under the recall ( i did ) and only now started having issues iwth 10.2.1 (QC serial phone 6s)

Well it didn't happen before IOS 10, and my phone is iPhone 6s+ not a 6s and according to the battery issue website isn't in the serial number range. I am learning Apple is just or worse than Samsung. Head in the sand attitude with this problem. I only switched to Apple products because they just worked, well not the case anymore I guess.

My 6s problem started exactly with iOS 10.2.1. If ur problem predates this perhaps u have another kind of battery issue...def more than one cause. Battery replacement under recall was done prev and phone was doing fine until 10.2.1.

Prelim soln?: ios 10.3 beta 3 seems to be a poss fix. For the first time in a few weeks my phone now 18 pct and still alive prev it died less than 40 pct restarted back at 11 pct. if use ios 10.3 beta 3 do one or two charge discharge cycles.

Only drawback phone extremely sluggish less than 20 pct ... huge lags. Wierd but maybe it fixed my particular batt issue

Same here. I get about half the battery life I used to get before updating to 10.2.1. I didn't notice a problem under 10.2.

I run the update, and suddenly I got poor battery life. Even when plugged into my car's iPhone interface (that has a weaksauce 500mA charger, but works), the battery will drain if I run internet radio and Waze navigation at the same time. It used to maintain the charge, if charge only slightly before I updated to 10.2.1.

And Apple, please don't send me battery saving tips. It was just fine before the iOS update to 10.2.1. Just noodling around work without using the phone for anything, I'll go from 100% battery at 8:00 to 60% battery by lunchtime. It used to be 90-95%. I now have to recharge it at my desk mid-afternoon.

I did find if I switch off the WiFi, it doesn't drain as fast, but I sometimes use the WiFi, even when driving (using an unlimited data plan hotspot modem provided to me by work to save on my own data plan... they're cool with it).

I do not have the random shut-off issue, so that's good I guess.

I remember, with iOS 10.1.1 I could reach 3 days.

After 10.2 I can do 12 hours. Doesn't matter if I use it or not. Even in low power mode. Battery life lasts 10-12 hours.

The only thing I need is allow downgrade back to 10.1 !!!

Undoubtedly. It truly ***** big time that all was well on my iPhone 7+ until this latest iOS update! Apple please address it ASAP lest you are arrogant into thinking your faithful customers are not human and won't get fed up!

Same here with my iPhone 5. The battery drains very fast and at around 30% the phone shuts down. A few seconds after plugging it in, it shows 50% or more... My phone runs on low battery mode all the time. Doesn't help.

This happened on iOS 10.2. So I updated to iOS 10.2.1. Didn't help at all either.

My "30% battery bug" is now a 50% battery bug. The phone drains quickly until it hits just over 50% and then shuts down. It won't turn back on until plugged in. When it boots back up it shows anywhere between 47-49%. If I unplug it after a couple of minutes it drops to less than 10%. It literally skips all those numbers. I just had it drop from 47% to 1%. iPhone 6 running the latest update. This update has actually exacerbated my battery issue. Not sure of this is a failing battery, but if so would the battery life die so quickly? Wouldn't that failure occur more slowly over time? This has been very noticeable since iOS 10, but way worse since 10.1 and on, and only gets worse with each successive iOS. Was hoping to get 3 years use of this phone by it looks like iPhones only have about a 2-year life and then they are done. Second time I have experienced this with an iPhone.

So I had my 6s under the battery recall. Battery replaced in December working fine until iOS 10.2.1. Then wierd battery drain phone shutting off at 30% or 40%. Switches off in a apple logo loop. Restart phone at 10%. Wierd behavior while charging too jumped percentage super fast like to 70% in 10 min from full discharge. Tried various restore reset reformat dfu. Finally took it in to the store. Apple diagnostics showed the battery to be bad (replaced under recall in dec) . They were suprised but offered to replace the battery. So far so good.

Botttom line if nothing seems to be helping get it checked at an Apple Store.

Hi, at 10.2 battery life was pretty ok, but after de 10.2.1 update on my iphone 6, battery life is a "****" , overnight it drops from 47% to 7 in the morning . I uset reset , restore with itunes and redownload the soft via itunes , same . Battery life inprovement suggestions doesnt't work eighter . Some of my friends are having the same issue on their iphone 5s, 6s , 7 too. Apple please fix this , i even can't put my clock to wake me up if battery drains overnight . Battery wear is 0,6 % battery lile new after 5 months of using .

I think it is a software issue as the exact same thing started happening to mine right after 10.2.1 - but I think even apple cannot figure this out or somehow it damages the battery. After trying all sorts of resets/refomats and even beta testing some new firmware and I gave up and had apple test it and they diagnosed a bad battery and replaced it and that finally solved it. Hopefully apple figures it out but it has stumped them, short of changing out the battery. Best thing for us to do is make some noise and get this thread to 300 pages long!

I have this exact same problem. I have used iphones since the first 3G and have never once had an issue with an iphone battery. I upgrade my iphone 6 to ios 10.2 and that's when the problems started. Battery will drain extremely fast and if I open an app like Skype video chat which has a high battery draw, it will shut the phone down, battery will go immediately from 100% or 80% or whatever, down to zero and need to be plugged back in. As soon as the phone powers up, it goes right back to 100% or 80%.

Sound like there is some sort of battery protection system built into ios 10 that monitors power draw and when it detects too much of it, the phone shuts down. I'm sure this is not it's intended purpose, but this seems to be what is happening. I use my iphone for on-call at work and I can no longer trust my iphone (never thought I would say that). I've ordered a cheap, used galaxy s5 just to get me by until apple fixes this issue with the battery. I can't and wont upgrade to an iphone 7 because of audio issue (not going into the headphone jack thing right now). My iphone worked flawlessly before ios 10. If apple can't/wont fix the battery issues, at least sign one of the ios 9 releases and allow us to go back.

Hard to believe that there is this much attention and this many people affected and Apple is treating this like a non-issue.
