Ios 10.2 draining battery FAST!

Same problem here! Twice, I've had my iphone 7 (iOS 10.2.1) in airplane mode at night and it falls about 40% in 6h . The main problem is Siri Audio (Even with Siri deactivated).

I called apple Care and they said my battery and hardware was Ok. So, what can I do?? Very annoying problem...

Moreover, It's my first Apple Device so you can imagine my dissapointment 😟.

I hope Apple Fix that...

Unfortunately, I've already tried this but just works for a couple of weeks. After that and suddenly, Siri Audio appears again :(.

Although the worst thing is that the heavy battery drain happens at night, when I have less than 50% and spect battery drains just 4-6% as before in iOS 10.2.

Same issue here. Literally turned off every feature to save battery, still, I can see the % go down at an alarming rate. Before the update, no problem, amazing battery life, could go two days without charging. Now it even drains battery at night on airplane mode with applications closed. What the **** Apple, how dare you come in with your battery life preservation tips page instead of a real solution. Would a car manufacturer give you eco driving tips on how to save fuel when they have designed a fuel tank with a hole in it? I hope not! I hope they would acknowledge something's not quite right and that they are working on a fix.

Have two episodes in last 2 or three weeks too with subj on my iphone SE, last IOS with last updates at moment.

mainly all works ok, but those two times in evening there is about 50 to 60 percent charge on battery, and from morning phone is warm and switched off - flat battery.

on normal conditions phone lost about 4 - 6 percent per night...:\

very surprised - when i become to dark side apple, i think, there all with wakelocks and so on is excellent, not as on android, but looks like, apple is not much better on software quality...:(

P.S. and in "settings" -> "battery" is no info about any app, who may eat all that battery, just about ordinary positions, as battery capacity was stolen by something hidden....

I'm annoyed by this as my battery issues fits this 30% bug exactly but Apple support instore have said it's a consumed battery. In finding this hard to swallow to b fair. Surely an decrepit battery drains and doesn't hold charge at a regular rate rather than random drain and then jumping from 30% to flat and needing electricity to turn it back on and then instantly jumping to 47%+?!

I'm having the same issue on an iPhone 6. If anything, 10.2.1 made it even worse. My sons 6 has the same troubles as well. Apple is going down fast under Cook's leadership, will seriously consider something else when time to upgrade.

I downloaded Coconut Battery to check my battery life on my iPhone 6. I noticed a few months back that I was past the 500 charge cycles on my battery, and it was only holding a charge of 80% of what it used to. As it progressed past 600, and close to 700 I was just over 50%. It seems that IOS 10 and it later editions drained the battery faster meaning I had to charge it more often making the problem perpetually worse. I finally caved and bought a 7+ because the phone was $300 off through a special corporate promotion. I would suggest checking your battery capacity through coconut battery. In my case a combination of the battery and the operating system. I have come to realize that with my phone uses I get just a little over two years of life on a phone. Hopefully the bigger battery in the 7+ will bring me closer to the 3 year mark.

3GS lasted three solid years. 5 died in under two years and was not part of that battery recall. 6 lasted just a little over two years. To have a phone last that long is incredible. I wish my phones had better battery life. My biggest complaint is not making phones with an easily replaceable battery. I don't believe that it isn't possible. I think it is simply more about getting people to buy new phones more often.

I updated to iOS 10.2 last week and the phone shut down completely on its own for a day. Battery was drained and once I plug it back in, it was running as usual, but with battery draining faster than before. No one at Apple seems to know how to fix this. I even went to the Genius Bar for an appointment. I hope Apple would do something about this issue soon.

I've given up, between mods deleting my last reply where I carefully explained the problem and how iOS being unable to reliably know how charged its battery is could lead to overcharging which in turn could lead to serious bodily harm, the inability to rollback to the last version of iOS that worked correctly, and Apples "solution" of using a power bank or case to trick the phone into thinking it's plugged in long enough for it to recalculate it's battery level, it's clear that Apple doesn't care about this issue at all. The fact that the newer versions of the iPhone lack a 3.5mm jack and music is 80% of my phone usage means upgrading is out of the question. I'm forced to jump ship to android.

Same issue here. I turned off my iPhone at ALL. And lost 51% in 7 hours. Not Airplan mode or a BatterySafe mode. I turned off at all. The phone is permanently turned off. Even with 100% charge. This happens several times a day. A full reset did not yield any results.

What I don't understand is if it is caused by a software update, why are not all phones affected. There must be more to it than just the update, say a particular app clashing with the update, but then a factory reset should clear that, shouldn't it? It appears not. My phone (SE) was affected but after turning off messaging (it's now back on again) it working fine again. I also tried discharging to below 30% then recharging to full again. Not sure if it was one of these actions, both of them or just a coincidence, but it's OK now. (Fingers crossed.) I sometimes wonder what with all the different combinations of apps that can be run, how they work at all, and that we don't get more clashes. At least we know the hardware is standard on Apple devices so hopefully we can rule that out. You may know different. I do agree that we should be able to go back to an earlier OS version when a problem like this is encountered. I for one wish I hadn't kept updating my iPad 3 as it is now much slower than it was, even after a factory reset. JP

i think, fact, it is lost charge during turned off was lead to two possibilities -

hardware problems, highly possible - battery hardware problem

or, problem with calibration , battery charge level estimate in IOS.

very beautiful be, if there can be checked voltage on battery terminals, that may get to decide, what of two possibilities we have there...

Yea Only to be told that you have "cycled" your battery too many times and now have gone over the 500 cycles and now won't be replaced because of "normal wear and tear". Which is complete B..S. and be charged $80 for a new battery. My phone battery never went so fast before iOS 10 so there answer to that is well it's more advanced software and features so it will drain it faster. I am resenting Apple and want to simply go back to android. Also the idiots in the sales department showed me how to shut down the apps and apparently that only makes the battery worse because of the way IOS allocates memory and will drain your battery faster. *** why is it that I have never heard this before and that regular procedure is to do a reset before you upgrade iOS and **** down the apps weekly and then do a power off to recollect the memory allocations. So frustrating how Apple doesn't educate their sales people in their own stores and other reseller stores i.e. Verizon stores.

Told me he said well actually your batter was at 30% and really It was at zero. Then I said then how come I used it for the next 4 hours !!!! They are coming up with more theories than saying their software ***** and they don't have a clue on what is causing it other than it's killing the battery life! But they don't want to take my word for it they have an "app for that" explaination called battery diagnostics to tell you you have charged it too many times and it's wear and tear issue now. Apple is definitely hiding something crappy memory management code, bad batteries, user using too many apps, or combination of all 3... I guess we will never find out just pay them more money and they will fix it someday...
