Ios 10.2 draining battery FAST!

I installed IOS 10.2 on 12/12/16. Phone was 100% charged at 7:00 pm; at 4:00 am on 12/13/16 the battery was completely discharged.

What changed in IOS 10.2 to affect battery usage like this?

iPhone SE, iOS 10.2

I have no idea why 10.2 is such a pos but here my story... same as everybody else, problems starting at 10.1, they waned with next update, 10.2 BAM same crap... battery went from 100% to zero in less than 45 min. If hit 10% it shut down some times it would nut charge for 24hrs+ then would sunbelt charge only to drain fast again.... would even drain while hooked up to power...I took to shop and had battery replaced with own battery worked until 10.2 update a month later then same issues! Had battery replaced again with oemm battery... no help... I ordered a hi capacity aftermarket battery and installed it ( not that hard, just google it) and it has improved performance drastically. No more non charging periods, realtively quick charging, no more battery life draining before your eyes...BUT I can get no more than 2-3 hrs on a charge if using...6-8 on standby...and I have all the settings to "save battery settings"... ok it's not the definite fix but it is way better than before! FIX THE **** PROBLEM APPLE, Lord knows we paid you enough! Tim Cook, you are not representing Duke, Auburn, Robertsdale or your parents well at all letting this kind of crap go on! Shame on you!

Since a week or two I have the same issue. iPhone 6 dies when reaching approx 30% which happens within 3-4h. The other day I woke up at 6am and left the apartment at 7am with 100% charge (no wifi or bluetooth, 50% brightness, a small amount of apps with background refresh and localisation and listening to music for 1h and reading news for 1h). By 9am I had 50%+ battery and by 11am (just being in my pocket as I was attending a seminar) it was down to less than 30% and died. Phone is 2 years 1 months old.

My experience is practically identical to iExtreme. Very frustrating. Wasted a day traveling to and from an Apple Store. The Genius Bar tech suggested that I disable auto brightness, after running some diagnostics. Of course it had no effect. And begs the question: why provide an auto brightness function if it will completely drain your battery in an hour or so?

Hi,

I have this problem too and in the last days it got really worse.

What I can witness is if I remove all the widgets and put the iPhone 6s in Airplane mode the battery doesn't drain at all.

If I put i turn off the Airplane mode the battery starts draining again - switch back to Airplane mode the draining stops.

Sometimes when I reboot the iPhone 6s the battery level jumps up by 15-25% and then goes down again.

In Airplane mode it stays more or less stable.

I hope Apple fixed this soon - sounds really like a software problem to me.

Cheers,

Frank

how did you fix it?

i too have this problem (6s+ 10.1.1)...has been few weeks now. you will see in my video phone is

- completely powered off

- turn on - says dead battery

- plug in charge cable

- phone powers on says 53% battery charge

i've seen this happen at various % battery charge.

i've also seen the battery show 20% - i plug in and suddenly shows 50+% battery.

$800 device to have this issue <2 years!

So two days ago, my iPhone 6 was dealing with a simular issue using iOS10.2.1.

Would randomly just die at a 30-50% charge every time.

Took it to Verizon and they're having it replaced since Apple continues to deny this issue.

It actually happened right when the tech was looking at my phone.

Wouldn't turn back on until I connected my power cord. Just weird it would work 12 hrs every day until yeasterday. It doesn't hold a charge for 2 hrs now.....which is 6 hrs less than my iPhone 4 which has not been updated but used as much as my current iPhone.

I have the exact same problem with my iPhone 6 (64 gb) which is now totally unreliable - the battery indicator just can't be trusted, the battery drains very quickly and the phone crashes unexpectedly. When I updated to 10.2.1, it was OK for a bit and I thought my problems were over ( I'd been in touch with Apple) but they are back with a vengeance. This experience makes me think of Apple differently.

None of those tips work. This is absolutely ridiculous. My battery goes from 100 to 73 to 1 all within the span of using it for 5 mins. Sometimes when it gets to 50 or 30 it just turns itself off. I don't really hear about people with the 7 having these battery issues so excuse me but this feels like extortion to me. Apple really needs to respond to all these people who are having this issue.

Hi,

yes - I've tried all different kind of things and nothing really worked. Maybe going back prior to 10.2 might help but I don't know how to get it. As far as I know - or what people say is - that Apple has implemented some kind of battery monitor software in iOS 10.2.1 to collect data.

It is a shame for Apple that they are not even say anything about this problems. Why buy a device for almost 700 EURO which is hardly useable anymore - the phone is not even a year old.

Same here my iPhone 7 was charged at 90% and turned on airplane mode before I went to bed and when I woke up only had 1% left!!! Had the shock of my life! My battery usually lasts for more than a day but now I have to charge it twice a day. I went to Apple store to fix it but they diagnosed my battery and said there isn't a problem. Might be hardware or iOS issue! Please fix this Apple!!!
