Ios 10.2 draining battery FAST!

I installed IOS 10.2 on 12/12/16. Phone was 100% charged at 7:00 pm; at 4:00 am on 12/13/16 the battery was completely discharged.

What changed in IOS 10.2 to affect battery usage like this?

iPhone SE, iOS 10.2

As almost all the comments have pointed out, ever since iOS10.1.1 my battery life had "gone down the drain".

BUT, yesterday iOS 10.2.1 PB2 came out and my battery life has drastically changed (for the better) to what it used to be "pre iOS10.1.1 or 10.2.0".

If possible, I highly recommend downloading and installing iOS10.2.1 PB2 and updating today!

Best of luck!!!

For me it appears that the Messages / iMESSAGE app is the culprit. If you look in your Settings under Battery you can see the usage statistics. My phone has been off the charger for at most a total of 4.5 hours and Messages has used 51% of all the battery that has been drained since removing from the charger. (Half of that was background refresh and the other half me actually using it). During this 4 hour period in which my phone has been off the charger I have used almost 50% of that battery. I am experiencing a hot phone and percentages dropping by 10 in a short amount of time. (I have been on wifi this entire time as well).

This has certainly gotten worse with the last few updates. Apple at one point was even offering battery replacements due to faulty iOS updates and my sense is that they are trying to keep these issues on the hush.

I have also completed a iPhone restore in the last week or so.

Before update to iOS 10.2, my iPhone5 would always charge up to 100% while plugged to a wall socket and active. After the update, the phone battery drains much faster, moreover, it drains even when the iPhone is plugged to the power. Now, the only way to charge the phone battery is to switch the power off while plugging the phone to the power socket.

The most discouraging consequence is that I can't use Waze as before.

Just did a full reset back to default factory settings...blew away everything and just barely got down reinstalling all my apps and the problem still persists. The battery drain is just unbelievable, even while plugged into the charger the battery continues to be dropping. Disabled every privacy and location setting you can think of except find my phone, and yet the problem continues...wish they would at least acknowledge that there is a problem with the new update 10.2. My IPhone 6S Plus has never had any problems in 10.0....problems started when I installed these latest 2 10.1 & 10.2. This update had a lot of new features, but the downside is that you must have your phone plugged into the outlet at all times. I am really considering jailbreaking the phone back to ios 9.3.5 only because it is completely unusable at this point, the most you can use the phone is about 1-2hrs before it requires to be charged again, and before you could go like 1-2 days and still have the 20% low power mode to go.

Well anyways I am just throwing my troubleshooting out there... as well as my frustration, my head against the wall on this update...

I've had the same problem when I updated to 10.1.1. And now with the 10.2 I don't see it worse but more of nothing changed. My battery is draining by around 4% every 10 minutes.

I charged phone last night up to 100% turned it completely off and when I woke up (7 hours after) it's still 100%.

When I don't turn it off, I wake to it with 20-30% battery remaining. And this happens even if I turn off wifi, Bluetooth and data.

Tonight I'll try putting it on airplane mode. And see what happens.
