Ios 10.2 draining battery FAST!

I installed IOS 10.2 on 12/12/16. Phone was 100% charged at 7:00 pm; at 4:00 am on 12/13/16 the battery was completely discharged.

What changed in IOS 10.2 to affect battery usage like this?

iPhone SE, iOS 10.2

Adding my name to the list of unhappy iOS users having this same exact problem. I used Facebook for 30 minutes today and made a 20 minute phone call. I otherwise didn't touch my phone and it was at 25% by the time I got home. Plugged it in and it jumped up to 40%. But if I dared use it at 25% it would've quickly gone below 20% and then powered off well before reaching 1%. This all started with 10.2 for me.

I've followed the other suggestions on here. Turned off all apps running in the background. Disabled Siri. Disabled background app refresh on every app. Backed up and restored. Nothing has helped. I called customer service and they ran a battery diagnostic and said it's fine, but blamed my issue on the Facebook app. They offered to schedule a Genius Bar appointment for me, but I'm not wasting time going to an Apple Store only to have them tell me the same thing or try to sell me a new phone (I'm still on a 6 because the 7 gave me no reasons to "upgrade").

They did say that an update is coming January 10th and maybe that will fix it. All I have to say is that it better, because I'm beyond eligible for an upgrade and competitor's phones are looking mighty appealing right about now. I could easily cancel Apple Music and switch to Droid if it guarantees more than an hours worth of usage per 100% battery charge.

My iPhone 6 was at 43%. I plugged it in the car charger to get it up a little more and when I plugged it in it dropped to 11%, and then 8%, and then 6%, and then shut right off. All within about 20 seconds. No problem here though?! I had this same issue with my iPhone 5. They don't last more than a couple of years, and then are useless. And like a previous poster mentioned, the 7 didn't offer enough for me to justify buying a whole new phone.

I have 2 iPhone 6 (not S) and 2 iPhone 5 (not S) that are giving me the same problem. My battery life on both the IPhone 6 phones last a little over 2 hrs and then turns off. The older 5 iPhones have poor battery life. And all this since the 10.2 upgrade. Genius Bar folks tell me that they are 'all' battery related- now I highly doubt that 4 phones that behaved perfectly well, all have battery problems at the same time. It's a shame that apple is not really testing its software as rigorously as they did in the past. Even Microsoft has gotten better than this with its support, function and reliability: wake up Apple.

I had the same problem with 7+. Since 10.2 the battery started draining fast As ****, on a standby at nighttime it's like -10 or -15% in 4 hours.

However I saw few messages about airdrop here. I turned it off in control center and looks like the battery is back to normal again. Although I'm testing it only for a second day only but I'll keep an eye.

Also, we are all receiving tons of "good ideas" and "helpful hints" about avoiding this battery drain problem from people who do indeed mean well. However, I am in the software business and also worked at Apple for several years and I can state unequivocally that Apple MUST resolve this issue which was created by IOS 10.2. There is no question that this build is responsible for this bizarre battery drain problem. It is not the fault of users or their "battery draining" apps.

I registered just to add my name to the list. I have an Iphone 6 and recently updated to the ios 10.2 and right away noticed very fast battery drain. I am a light user and battery would last 2-3 day on a charge typically, but now I see as much as 10% battery loss in 1 hour while phone is in standby running nothing (also could feel phone getting very warm on standby---NORMAL right?? LOL). This has never happened before and I was running 10.1.1 prior I believe. I looked at battery usage and noticed that Siri (audio) was on top with 85% usage of my battery in the last 24 hours, and I had not even used Siri!! There is a big time bug with this software that needs to be addressed. Those blowing it off as "every update has this problem" are full of BS, so run along with your lame answers.

I have since turned off Siri, and done all the other power saving tips, and the problem is less than half as bad now, but there IS STILL A PROBLEM with 10.2. Fix it now or lose another customer!!

I agree, something went seriously wrong if Siri was using that much battery. But I didn't have that happen with my phone and I've yet to see someone else post this issue. So how would Apple (who isn't here) fix this problem without knowing about it? Are you close to an Apple Store? If yes, make a Genius Bar appointment and have them check out your iPhone with Siri turned back on. Or call AppleCare and do the same.

Apple could monitor their own site and see the problem. I have seen several others say turning off Siri helped them right in this thread alone. I'm not wasting my time wiping phone or going to Apple store. I will wait so long for an update, and no fix then I will switch phones. Been a steady customer since iphone 3, but this has me pizzed off!!

Apple does not monitor this site, it is a user-to-user technical support site. Even if they did it would provide no assistance to the engineers and programmers. I said nothing about wiping your iPhone I just asked which functions show to be using the most battery. And they can also run tests at the Apple Store, or remotely by calling AppleCare, that may identify the problem. Since the vast majority of users are not having this issue it is not a simple matter to solve. Even if they identify other battery issues and issue an update there is no guarantee that yours would be fixed as they have no knowledge of what your issue is. Rather than being mad why not be part of the solution.

Several others suggest to wipe the phone and reload ios, so that was to "those suggestions". My part of the solution is thousands of $$ spent over the years and supporting what I believed was a good product. I've seen several others post they went to the Apple store and waited in line with many others with the same issue. They know about it. I believe it's a combination of apps getting caught in a loop of some type causing high drain. Siri is likely just the app for me and several others that reported shutting it off helped. Who knows, could even be what exactly you happen to ask Siri last, and I'm not spending hours and possibly days wasting my time helping them bug fix their crapware they put out.
