Ios 10.2 draining battery FAST!

I installed IOS 10.2 on 12/12/16. Phone was 100% charged at 7:00 pm; at 4:00 am on 12/13/16 the battery was completely discharged.

What changed in IOS 10.2 to affect battery usage like this?

iPhone SE, iOS 10.2

ok after chatting with support, they run a diagnostic operation on my iPhone, no result, and asked me to delete my app that use most of battery and even restoring whole iPhone, nothing changed my battery issue, don't waste your time on asking support from them, just wasting time.

only hope is that they fix this issue in next update.

Checked my battery usage. Between my text messaging and phone use of 49 minutes in total it accounts for 48% of my battery usuage. Since it has been suggested by some the IOS is not to blame and it is some errant app, is there a way to delete the phone app and iMessage off my iPhone. I mean, those aren't that important, right?!

Mine has been the Calendar. It has on a consistent basis pulled at 45-50% of my battery life and is frozen, except it does move to the correct date each day. I contacted Apple Care, once a month ago and just today and both times the agent advised me that they haven't heard of the problem before, not even on 6S+, the phone I have (Funny, the agent immediately recommended that I dump the app and reload later or not at all). The first time, I was instructed to turn off notifications etc., ant it seemed to work for a time until the most recent update and it started pulling power again. This time I dumped it and will load another calendar, it seemed to solve the issue. I've noticed others on this and other threads were having issues with the Calendar app, so it's unusual to me that Apple Care wouldn't know of it - thx

Same issue with iPhone 6 after 10.1 update. My gps went wacky too. Restored several times from factory. I downloaded 10.2 and it made the problem worse. Opted into the beta program for 10.2.1 and still no fix. Good luck with apple acknowledging its an issue even with thousands of people having this problem. Maybe there should be less focus on a stupid theater app for 10.3 and more focus on fixing this known issue.

Sincerely,

Running iOS 10.2. Battery was at 100% when I turned off my iPhone 6 last night at 11pm. This morning when I turned it back on at 8am, the battery icon was at 2%. No new apps added recently. No change from before.

When I connected the charging cable, the battery icon jumped to 67% in a few seconds. This appears to be a software issue, not a battery drain problem. However, even if there is charge left in the battery, the iphone will shut off based on the level shown by the icon. How did things get so complicated?

On iPhone 6. Have been really happy with it until two weeks ago when I upgraded to 10.2. No problems at all so far with 10.1 with battery life.

But since the upgrade the phone is noticably slower and my battery goes at an incrdible speed.

Got up this morning, phone charged at 100%. All I did so far was check mails 5 mins and Google for "battery life issues" for 5 mins and my battery is alteady not even at 80% anymore.

While typing this post it droppen from 90 to 75%!

My issue is similar. I have done the battery optimization tips, but that is not helpful at all.

For example, my phone was about 50% and then a few minutes later I got a low battery warning. I looked at the phone at 1:36pm and it showed 1% - I took a screen shot. I immediately plugged the phone in and then the battery showed at 41%, also at 1:36 - I took a screen shot. This has happened many times.

Bottom line, there is something wrong with either the battery consumption or the way it is reporting it.

Updated to iOS 10.2.1 yesterday. Still the same battery issues! Nothing fixed!

While on separate wireline phone with Apple tech support, battery icon on iPhone 6 went from 100% to 4% in a matter of ten minutes. Then plugged the charging cable into the iPhone 6. Battery icon jumped back up to 91% within 30 seconds. Tech support ran diagnostics on my iPhone. Battery shows in the green (good condition). Apple, please fix the SOFTWARE!

Note this is on an iPhone 6, NOT 6s.

Well for me the combination of resetting all settings in 10.2 and the update 10.2.1 seems to have resolved both the rapid drain/reduced life issue and the rapid and random jumping around of the battery. Note that I do not have an iPhone 6/6s but a 6s plus. So there may be two issues: an actual battery issue with some units and some software issues that crept up either in trying to address or just in updates.

Since update I have had 3 hours of use with 75% battery remaining (I was showing near empty in 2-3 hours before), and my battery value is steady like before. Another interesting change is that I am in the cold with my phone and since the issue came up I would see the phone drop from 90% to 30% or lower in the cold without use, and a restart would jump the battery level back up. Today in very cold weather it did not do that anymore, the battery stayed relatively stable with minor reduction from the cold as expected (the drop before in 25-30 degree weather was insane).

So I'd suggest try the update and reset all settings combinations before committing to hardware solutions.

SO FRUSTRATED!! I have exactly the same issue on my 6 (NOT 6S). If I was hammering the data/battery I'd get it. However a full charged phone sat in my bag on mute, wifi off, low battery mode on (because I needed to be sure I could use maps later and the battery has been bouncing up and down so randomly for weeks and I wanted to try and preempt it), no incoming calls or texts, all apps closed should NOT go from 98% to 4% in 2 hours. Even after a reboot, battery still showed 4%. Got home, plugged it in and within 3 minutes battery showed 78%. ARGH!!! *headdesk*

Like everyone else here, I've tried all the tricks in the book, including changing location services, individual app usage to always/while using/never, screen brightness, low battery mode, volume, closing background apps constantly, everything! I actually worry about leaving in the car with just my phone for directions because I have NO IDEA at what point it'll decide to roll over and play dead.

Been with Apple a long time and we have a lot of iDevices, but man, this is testing my iLove to breaking point...

After updating to iOS 10.2.1 my iPhone 6S battery discharges too quickly. Earlier on iOS 10.2, I didn't face this problem. I don't know what happened with this new update. As per Apple they have fixed bugs but I don't think they really solved battery issues. I want Apple to release new update at the earliest to resolve this issue.

Thanks.

I downloaded the latest update, 10.2.1, and I think it actually made the battery worse than before. Awesome! I agree with mim001. I'm a big Apple fan, but this ongoing issues with battery life and iPhones is getting frustrating. Especially when they refuse to acknowledge it is an issue. To suggest that it's only a small number of phones built within a narrow range is not true. My iPhone 5 had a battery that didn't last beyond 15 min. after 2 years, and of course wasn't in the range of iPhones identified by Apple as having an issue. I would say that this is very similar. Also, if people, in general, are so concerned about battery life with their phones why would any company create an OS that would consume more juice by having more things running in the background? Are things not supposed to get more efficient?
