Ios 10.2 draining battery FAST!

I downloaded the latest update, 10.2.1, and I think it actually made the battery worse than before. Awesome! I agree with mim001. I'm a big Apple fan, but this ongoing issues with battery life and iPhones is getting frustrating. Especially when they refuse to acknowledge it is an issue. To suggest that it's only a small number of phones built within a narrow range is not true. My iPhone 5 had a battery that didn't last beyond 15 min. after 2 years, and of course wasn't in the range of iPhones identified by Apple as having an issue. I would say that this is very similar. Also, if people, in general, are so concerned about battery life with their phones why would any company create an OS that would consume more juice by having more things running in the background? Are things not supposed to get more efficient?

I wonder how many iPhone 6 users, with the same problem as all of us, just went out and bought an iPhone 7 because they thought their battery life was dead? So, could this have been premeditated by Apple to sell a phone that is not that much more different than iPhone 6? Interesting to me this problem started happening to iPhone 6 users soon after the release of iPhone 7. Brilliant marketing ploy if they did plan this. But so wrong if it is even close to the truth. Am I alone smelling fish here?

What all did reset all settings cause you to lose? Do you lose passwords for Apple, email, and network that may need to be saved or looked up? I may give this a try with 10.2.1, but want to know what to expect from this reset. Thanks..

Same here and it is becoming a real problem as Inise my phone for business and it doesn't last more than 4 hours without a charge. This needs a quick fix otherwise it is getting sold and I'll buy a cheap android instead

I don't remember, it did not erase the icloud passwords, but it did force me to set back up a lot of parameters about my iPhone, like wallpaper, key clicks. But look here:

Went to Apple store yesterday with my iPhone 6 battery issue. They did a "reset to new" (erased all data and downloaded apps). Note: battery diagnostic showed good battery at 86% (in the green). Battery system seems more stable now. No longer 100% to dead with phone off overnight. Will report back if problems re-surface.

Learned: iOS update does not clean out old iOS. Problems might be duplicated in update. Need "reset to new" to clean out old problems.

Go to Settings/messages and turn off iMessage. Instantly my battery drain was solved. I know it is not the ideal solution but it worked. If I need to send an iMessage I can easily turn it on, send the message then turn it off again. Normal texts still arrive ok.

Ios 10.2.1 works better than previously but not still satisfied level.

My iPhone 6 works 11 Hours (3-4 around usage).

With last version it stops about 7 Hours.

Funny. My comment got deleted despite there being feedback about battery usage on 10.2. My battery problems are still not fixed. I guess apple doesn't like me saying I may jump ship to android in their help forums.

While reading an email from this thread I watched my battery indicator drop for 80% and skip to 69%. A check of battery usuage indicates that 71% of the 35% of the battery I have used thus far has come from 13 minutes of total phone use between messages, safari, Siri, mail, YouTube, and Facebook. 13 minutes of use!!! But no issues with batteries or IOS? Again, I went through this before with the 5 and I bought a 6, and now the same problem is rearing its ugly head again. I too have deleted everything, reinstalled the IOS, reinstalled all my apps manually (not from backup), turned a bunch of background apps off, and still the problem persists. The only way I can make I through the day on a single charge is if I don't use my phone at all. A good customer relations move is to acknowledge the problem exists, and explain that something is being done about it. Not pretend it does' exist. We already have a group of people that put forth too many "alternative facts". We don't need more doing the same.

I can confirm that this solves the issue.

I also did a full reset (wipe content and settings), restored from my latest iCloud backup and all is running as it should be again.

Also my phone (iPhone 6, with 10.2.1) is much faster again and does not run so hot anymore.

This could also be a bad battery. You may know this already, but Apple tech support can run a battery diagnostic by connecting over the air to your phone. If the battery is no longer good, Apple wants to charge $80 to replace. Replacements are done at their stores.

I had the same problem. I rang apple support and they advised me to back up my phone then reset erase everything set up as new phone for an hour then reset again erase all content then reset from backup this cured my problems

Same problem here charging my stupid iphone 6 plus takes forever and the god **** ios 10.2.1 kills my battery two times faster. I have replaced a brand new battery and still the same problem. Apple really dropped the ball with unreliable ios because i am buying an Android phone.
