Hi. Not yet, I prefer to keep history as it's served me in the past.

So I updated to 10.12.2, which I understand just came out. No change.

I'm wondering if our shared problem has something to do with the mac os update. strange coincidence if not. Maybe they changed some web services that are accessed by sierra OS, regardless if it's 10.12.2 or 10.12.1.

anyways, will try to re-index now and will report back.

Can't see the point of worrying about browser history as, if you got to sites before you will find them again. Most problems that I have ever had with Safari have been caused by browser History needing clearing as, it accumulates so many files as, modern websites are much more involved than earlier ones and the history stacks up. Read this:

http://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac-software/how-clear-safari-cache-3496193/

Also if you have an external back-up drive your browser history can be obtained in TimeMachine from the day before or whatever. No real reason to keep it.

Good point about Time Machine. My browsing history is like my emails, I just like to keep a record because sometimes I remember I saw something over summer, around specific dates, I just can't remember the name of the site...

anyways, since I do have this on Time Machine I did wipe the safari browser cache. all of it. no change yet.

so i am now doing the spotlight re-indexing. this will take time. In the meantime the pop-up stays in a corner of my screen 😟

I ran into this yesterday. (MacOS 10.12.1.) Rebooting suppressed the problem, but it reappeared today.

Clearing Safari caches did not help. Following Taputeranga's suggestion, this did seem to work:

launchctl remove com.apple.Safari.SafeBrowsing.Service

I suppose I am no longer getting updates to Safari's evil-website list, but oh well. Better than not being able to use the machine.

Same thing was happening to me. I searched the internet and tried something I read and it seems to be fixed. Something about Google does this.

Go to the following folder and delete the contents,

/private/var/folders/45/8s66ycw53d7g9tqpytjqlb0h0000gp/C/com.apple.Safari.SafeBr owsing/Google

After I deleted the 2 files in that folder everything seems ok for about 6 hours.
