com.apple.Safari.SafeBrowsing.Service quit unexpectedly
why do i keep getting a problem report saying com.apple.Safari.SafeBrowsing.Service quit unexpectedly.
MacBook Pro, macOS Sierra (10.12.1)
Not glad to hear that. I deleted those files about an hour ago (they've since re-appeared) and the service hasn't crashed since. Your post suggests I should expect this issue to reappear.
How long was it from the time you deleted those files until the service started crashing again?
just re-stating this: the problem just stopped here. good for the last 15 minutes or so. so... apple? or google? fixing something perhaps...
Thanks. Removing the contents fixed the issue. My location was different.
/private/var/folders/yh/2h6v3xlx03s4wx92t5bdxw4h0000gp/C/com.apple.Safari.SafeBr owsing/Google
This is my approach for now but I can't imagine it is a permanent fix. Thanks for sharing!
Yes, this worked for me. Thanks!
Probably about 10-15 minutes. They keep reappearing, I delete them and restart. No crashes for a while now but I'm guessing they haven't gone away completely. This just seems to be a temporary workaround.
I also resolved with a reboot
If you restart, problem goes away UNTIL you start Safari. Then even if you quit Safari, it recurs until you restart.
Looks like the Google database is not available or corrupted. Removing the Google folder from the Safari.SafeBrowsing folder seems to work even with Safari still running. A new folder is created. You can do this without sudo, in the finder menu GO/Go to Folder /private/var and searching for safe browsing. BUT if you don't feel comfortable STOP. And if you do feel comfortable, STOP, walk around room, breathe, and be real careful, you can do real damage in these folders.
I am not sure this will continue to work after a restart and/or reopening Safari.
All on 10.12.2 and latest Safari.
lol, has anyone read my post above? here the problem just stopped on it's own, after about an hour... and hasn't returned since. so, not related to anything i deleted, etc... since the problem initially continued after that.
but is not happening anymore...
This 'appears' to have worked for me. Time will tell.

I didn't bother with a restart, and only deleted the files once. No service crashes since then. I checked the folder a few times, and the files were updated at 2:14pm, and again at 3:16pm.
Very strange indeed...
interesting to see how this problem is affecting mac-users worldwide, i have the same problem as well all evening (i'm from the Netherlands) and it's still going on, i've rebooted, cleaned my cache, history etc. but no result.
i've managed to find the location of this com.apple.Safari.SafeBrowsing.Service which keeps popping up every few seconds (driving me nuts) but i can't remove anything. When i try it says the com.apple.blahblahservice can't be removed or changed as it's required for macOS. It seems to me all this trouble started since the last update last night (the 10.12.2 version). Could that be right?
is there any way to undo this version and return to the previous one? I've never had this problem happening to me before..
if you guys have any advice please let me know. I'd think apple would allready be working on a solution for this if so many people have constant trouble with this macOS required service???
It hasn't crashed for a good long while now but that was after a couple/few deletes and restarts. Fingers crossed that the fix has 'taken'.
Make sure you have admin privileges, and be careful
Could be related to 10.12.2 upgrade, though I think some posts indicated they were on older systems, but maybe they had upgraded Safari. I think it is a Google issue. Problem still gone, but I haven't restarted OS.
The problem occurred last night, then I rebooted and from that moment Safari works well
