iPhone 7 Plus: Callers can't hear me

Anytime I'm on the phone I can hear the other person fine but they can't hear me. They can only hear me when I have them on speaker phone. My phone is brand new, just got it about 2 weeks ago. I've tried everything to fix it (hard reset, volume controls, etc) and nothing helps. I've tried it in different areas using wifi and using my Verizon LTE network. Same thing. They say my phone sounds like scratching static unless I put them on speaker phone, then it stops. What's going on? :(

I found a solution for my iPhone 7. The OtterBox I was using on my iPhone 6 was blocking the rear microphone, a small black dot next to the camera, in the top left corner. It doesn't appear to be covering it, but it appears to be just enough to block it. I filed the OtterBox down just a bit in that area and it works just fine.

The official answer is, "We know it's a problem with some devices and we're not going to replace your phone."

Mine is under warranty. Eventually I lost speakerphone too. The headphones don't work either.

Apple is aware. They're not going to solve the problem. You just bought a bad phone, luck of the draw. They actually told me that since they know it's a bug, they're not responsible for replacing the device.

I'm having the same issue as everyone else., I bought my iPhone 7 plus as an upgrade from an iPhone 6S plus that worked perfectly on June 1st, 2017. My daughter needed a phone with more storage so I gave that one to her. I went to the Apple Store for the 4th time today concerning my 7 plus. I had already had my iPhone replaced once last month, replaced my sim card(T-Mobile), reset my iPhone multiple times, made sure all software was up to date, everything I could try I did. I called Apple before I went and the person on the phone couldn't hear most of what I was saying so he documented everything for me. When I went to the store today they would only replace the phone with the same model. The manager(Providence, RI location) wasn't helpful at all, he was rude and said he never sees any iPhone 7 Pluses with this problem and he was confident a replacement would work. I'm not sure what else to do. I'm going to call again later and ask for customer relations and see what they'll do for me. Good luck to everyone experiencing this issue and I hope everyone gets some resolution.

Try going into the “cellular” part of settings and then to “cellular data options” onto “enable LTE” and choose data only. Many carriers are trying to use this as it provides a single line of transfer, much like VOIP, instead of voice and data as two individual lines through their towers/processors. It’s completely taken care of my problems with this issue after fighting it for months.
