If your left or right AirPod stops working

Yesterday, I listened to a podcast with only my right AirPod. The left AirPod was in the case. I then charged both AirPods overnight.

This morning, the left AirPod refuses to work: no audio, no chime when inserted, and no Siri when double tapping. The right AirPod works fine.

I tried rebooting my iPhone, disconnecting and reconnecting the AirPods, and toggling on/off Automatic Ear detection in settings. Nothing has worked. I've used my AirPods for several days and this is the first problem that I have had.

Any suggestions?

Same problem for me. Also I'm unable to reset the airpods. I can press the button as long as I like, it never flashes amber, just white.

And in normal mode if flashes green as soon as the not working airpod is inserted.

case also discharges quite quickly.

Hey Y’all -

I just had the same problem. Right AirPod was not charging, responding, anything. It just seemed entirely dead - and it was out of battery, but it wasn’t charging. Left airpod was still working like a charm.

My solution was to get someone else’s case - I just dropped it into my friend’s airpod case and it kicked back into gear. I left it in for a minute while it charged and then switched it into my case, which, to my surprise, charged it. Everything’s back to normal.

I looked at the earlier responses and found that my case, no matter how long I held the button for, didn’t ever flash amber.

Hope this helped solve your problem,

WML
