AirPods losing Bluetooth connection during calls

My AirPods are working just fine with my iPhone 6S during music playback, but I routinely lose my BT connection during phone calls. I have to manually reconnect in the BT settings screen to continue. This happens even when the phone is less than two feet from my AirPods. I've reset the AirPods several times, I've restarted my phone several times, no change. In one case I lost the connection three times in a 10 minute call.

My assumption is that the cell radio is causing interference with the BT radio somehow. I'm on Verizon in case that matters.

I know others have reported this problem. Has anyone found a solution?

Is anyone here using Tile (app + physical tiles) -- which communicate via Bluetooth?

On another forum, a person "turned off Tile completely" and that solved his AirPod droppout problems. I'm curious if anyone here has tried Tile as a possible root-cause?

Same issue here. Only with calls on my 6s. I don't have an Apple Watch pairs to my phone so it's definitely a Bluetooth device or firmware glitch.

Thanks - I tried that and it has worked for about 24 hours so far (even with my Watch S2 powered on).

I just started turning off my Tile app completely, and so far it has helped me have less connection issues. I wish Apple would fix this issue.

Do you have tile? If so go to the tile app, click the settings gear and turn off Bluetooth. Does that resolve the issue? It worked for me and I want to see if it helps anybody else.

I'm having all of these problems and I use Tile. How does one "turn off Tile completely?" Uninstall the app?

Turn off the Bluetooth option in the Tile app. Finally I can use my AirPods with my iPhone. I sent a report to Time

I had a similar issue with my Powerbeats and another headset. Removing the tile app completely fixed it
