toyota hands free echo

I have a 2015 Toyota Highlander. When I use my iPhone 6S (iOS 10.2) via hands-free Bluetooth connection, there is a echo on the phone that makes it very hard for the other person to hear me. Has anyone figured out how to solve this problem?

This finally solved my problem too. Turning up Bluetooth volume is done the same way as turning up the phone volume (side buttons on the iPhone) but has to be done while a call is in progress - ie while the Bluetooth is engaged! You will see it say Bluetooth volume on the phone screen when you do this. Turn the volume down on the car console (doesn’t have to be super low, just maybe below 40) and turn the Bluetooth volume up on the phone itself. This did finally solve my echo problem.

I am getting the exact same thing on my 2017 Highlander Limited with an iPhone 7+ however, my wife's iPhone 6s+ doesn't have this issue at all. If anyone comes across a solution for this please let me know as this is annoying for anyone talking to me.

my iPhone is on the latest version of iOS 11 as of November 2017 and it was also doing the same thing with iOS 10.

We’re having the same issue with my husband’s iPhone X. I have an iPhone 7 with no echo issues. My husband had an iPhone 6+ before his new iPhone, also no echo issues. In fact he didn’t have the echo until the last few weeks on his new iPhone X. So something changed somewhere. He has the same echo issue in my 2012 Prius. We need a solution. Someone help!!

I have the same issue with my 2017 Highlander. Previously I had a 2014 Highlander but I did not experience the echo problem in that vehicle. I have tried changing the settings available on the call connection screen without any improvement. I am seeing that problem still exists even up to a week ago on this thread..........does everyone think it is an Apple issue or an issue with the Highlander itself? My daughter has a 2014 Rav4 and no issues on her bluetooth either. Frustrating to say the least.

When is Apple going to step up to the plate and address this situation? I have the same problem with my 2017 Highlander and Toyota puts it squarely on Apple. There's a common theme here Apple and you're ignoring your customer base while Toyota is having pen discussions about he problem and attempting solutions. I've called Apple as well ad yet there is no resolve.

And the part that really frosts me is that there are an awful lot of Toyota owners who are being ignored. And how is it that my 2014 Highlander didn’t have this issue and my daughter’s RAV4 and son-in-law’s Sequoia do not experience this echo and yet we have same phones on same iOS ? My 17 AND 18 Highlanders both have this awful echo rendering it almost impossible to use hands free. Come on, Apple....this needs a fix!

Same issue here with a Lexus 2017 RX 350 and an iPhone 8+… Don’t give me any of this crap about updating software and running current versions because I’m not an idiot that’s all checked off the list already. It is completely pointless to have a conversation with my girlfriend when she is using Bluetooth and it does not happen to anyone else she works with unless they have… Guess what… An iPhone.

Do something Apple and remember crap like this whenever the world starts switching to Samsung.

2017 Highlander Limited, iphone 8 plus. Echo just started about 3 weeks ago, have had the car for 7 months. No problem prior to that. Toyota updated the software in the car. I removed my device, resynced, still a problem. I am driving around with my 900$ phone tucked into the seat belt while using the speaker phone. This is ridiculous and after reading this thread, it is obviously an apple issue. FIX IT! We pay thousands of dollars for these phones and service. It is 2018, this should not be happening.

I have a 2015 4Runner and an iPhone X. The echo on the other end is a huge problem. It wasn't nearly as bad or as often with my iPhone 6S. Whose "fault" it is doesn't matter. What matters is that these companies have customers who have paid or are paying big money for their products, and it is the responsibility of both companies to address, identify and resolve the issue. This is clearly a major problem, and it needs to be rectified posthaste!

I have a 2015 Toyota Highlander also. I have an iPhone 7. Approximately 1 month ago, everyone I speak to, via Bluetooth, began hearing an echo. I have had this car since 11/2014 and this is the first time I have had this problem. Interesting to note that my son has a 2014 Volkswagon Jetta and he has the same problem with his factory installed in-car Bluetooth. He has an iPhone 8s. I don't know where or who the problem is resulting from but I agree these major companies need to provide solutions as I often have to drive while talking on my phone directly which is both illegal and inherently dangerous.
