To Ghaddd.... I don't know if we helped or made matters worse. I do not have contact photos in my iMessages on my iPhone 5s, but Chris CA does have them. Take a look at the links that I posted in my response above.

You and I are not the only iPhone 5s users that do not have the contact photos in messages.

BTW, I see contacts first names. I have First Names selected in Settings>Contacts>Short Name>On>First Name Only.

Just so we are on the the same page... I see the contact photo if I tap on the info button for the contact within messages, but not while sending messages.

It doesn't work on the iPhone 5s. I think it only works on the newer larger screen iPhones. I have no such setting to turn on this feature. It should be in Settings>Messages>Show Contact Photos>On. That is non existent on my 5s.

I never had it on my iPhone 5s IIRC. The feature no longer exists on that phone (if it did at one point) and I believe it is only available on the iPhone 6 and higher.

Open Contacts app, select the contact, tap Edit and add a photo.

In Contacts with no photos, in Messages, I see the initials in the circle. The name is below the circle.
