iOS 10: should it load on older iPads, or is this another example of planned obsolescence?

Although the Apple site doesn't say that I can't, my iPad insists that iOS 9.3.5 is the newest update. It wont find (or download) iOS 10. Since I'm suddenly having problems with the Internet with my iPad (and only my iPad—everything else is working fine on my home wireless network) I was hoping the updated operating system would fix the problem. I can't seem to find any support for my problems on the Apple website.

Instead of wasting their time on watches or artificial intelligence, it would be nice if Apple continued to support their existing products.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4), I also have an iMac

Finally, do you work for the company, or are you a major shareholder? You (and a couple of others) are responding as if you were personally attacked!

It's this type of statement that gets you the reaction you got.

It's nonsensical, whiny and fairly inaccurate.

Would you have said this 10 years ago?

Cars are constantly being improved (although some improvements aren't) and new features are being added. But the older ones still work.

Yes, and old iPhones and iPads still work as well. Just because some may not have received the latest iOS update does not automatically mean they stop working.

I have a first Generation iPad that still does what it did the day I bought it.

only the older iPads: iPad 2, 3 and iPad Mini 1, did not get the update. Every other iPad got iOS 10. But even those that did not get the update, did not suddenly combust, or shut down, or stop doing what they are doing. They still work exactly the same way they did the day before iOS10 was released.

The newest iPad that did not get iOS10 is 4 and a half years old. And it probably still has 1 or 2 more years before it stops gettting App updates completely. Which means a life span of about 6 years. I doubt you can find any mobile manufacturer that can make a de with that lifespan.
