This is a constant problem, I will clean the shavings off best I can however because of the lip/ design of the lid and case you can never get rid of them all. Could I use a stronger magnet to remove the shavings and if I do will that effect any of the permanent magnets, effect antenna, W1 Chip...
Q-tips and cloths are current choice... however this again doesn't work the best.

I am a machinist and surprise surprise - I have the same problem!
My solution is simple enough though.
I use tape.
It takes a little while but it can be done. Apply the tape, press it in tight in all the nooks and crannies and peal it off again. The magnetic field isn’t that strong so the adhesive of the tape peals the metal right off =).
Just don't expect to get it all in one go. It usually takes me a couple of strips to get it all off.

I've given some thought to this and paid attention to my daily habits with the Airpod case.
I realized that the pocket I keep it in also is the pocket that I keep my cash, or any change I might have, along with a pocket knife. The magnets are collecting the dust from those items.
Hey so I'm not alone! I've been silently annoyed nearly a year.
I clean the case frequently, but it attracts magnetic dust immediately.
Mine's are almost a year old, does this happens to newer ones too?
Might we have a replacement if asked?
I just went through the Genius Bar process for the same issue (metal shavings collecting in the case). They Genius was going to replace them but they didn’t have a topic in their issues selection for this so they had to escalate it through two levels of engineering. The Apple engineers decided from pictures alone that it couldn’t be metal from the product itself. They assert that if it were from the hinges the shavings / parts would be larger somehow. They told me my option is to keep it clean and “deal with it” basically, no replacement.
It’s not likely your work environment it has happened to my case as well as a friend of mine. I think it is shavings from the battery inside the case. A Q tip cleans it up but requires regular attention.
I think your right, i've talked to many people and they all say the same thing. My theory is that it might be the magnets inside braking down from letting it snap shut to hard and repeated openings and closings. This might not be the case for all of them but for the people that don't work around metals try cleaning them up and be more genital when you close it and see if that stops them from returning.
Surprise surprise. I have the same problem. I don't think it's coming from outside the case but inside from the AirPods themselves.
The metal shavings are coming from the hinge. It's a design flaw and their pretty much impossible to remove completely. Hopefully they fix this for the next version.
I had this same problem and got a replacement. Well guess what... it's happening again.
I work in an office in Sydney so the only metal/aluminium I have nearby is my pen and and have the same problem. Has anyone had a response from Apple about this?

magnets will temp make the iPhone compass confused other then that its no problem
I agree. My shavings appeared right away, before my pods had been out and about. I'm guessing the shavings are coming from within, though I don't understand how/why.
