User account missing from login screen. Only ligin option is "Other"

My iMac running latest macOS Sierra completely froze. I forced a shutdown, waited 30 seconds, and restarted. The startup took several minutes and ended on a login screen defaulted to the "Other..." login account. I backed out of this to get to the top level account login screen, but my primary account is gone. The only login option is "Other..." How do I recover my account login? Thank you.

If the Safe Mode trick mentioned by Luis did not solve it:

Start in the RecoveryPartition (CMD+R), restore from TM backup.

I have a Time Machine backup but haven't done anything to overtly save my home folder in some other manner.

Thanks tygb. As far as I recall, yes, I do have that setting enabled. I have previously tried logging in with my Apple ID and it didn't work either.

TThanks tygb. I tried the reset but I got all the way to a screen I'm supposed to select my account before clicking "continue" but there are no accounts displayed.

Perhaps in the first window in the RecoveryPartition: choose Restore from TM backup? or would that set you back too far?
