I have an Apple Watch first generation. It has worked fine and normally after a day I have ca 30% battery left. Yesterday I updated to OS 3.1.3. Today, a normal day, the battery drained very quickly after having been in flight mode and died after 12 hours of use.
What should I be looking for?
If you still have AppleCare, call them and if necessary, escalate to a higher level with the problem. I doubt you'll get an answer on here.
Seems crazy but I'm leaving the office now at 7:15pm and my battery is at 81%! That's about 10-15% better than average after 11 hours and 45 minutes of normal/heavy use.

Have you restarted your Apple Watch and iPhone? Worked for a couple of us now.
Agreed. Perhaps they could have forced a restart of the iPhone after the Apple Watch update was applied.
I also had the battery issue (series 1) and followed the instruction to restart my phone and watch. It fixed the issue. I am now getting the same battery life like before.
Agreed... you'd think they would do extensive testing before rolling out to the general public... there are many that don't quite know how to diagnose the problems... sigh...

Thanks. That's what I did too. I'd just be sure to avoid using airplane mode for the time being.
I have a similar problem. Updated watch OS to 3.1.3 and battery last for 5-6 hours.
Tried with all the steps, but the performance of battery is not any better.
Hardly, getting 6-7 hours now. Need help desperately.
After update to watch os 3.1.3 the battery died within 12 hours
