Just had iTunes download a new version. Restarted and got the following message.


iTunes can't verify the identity of the server safebrowsing clients.google.com


What is up with that?

Here's a thread that discusses safebrowsing - Safe browsing data? that may shed some light. Try clearing the iTunes cache and see if that has any effect. It sounds like some left over Safari data that is either out of date or no longer valid.

See this link - Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. Specifically - Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components and iTunes installers. You will find instructions for removing iTunes and a list of installers for the version of your choice. Keep in mind that if you have a device or devices that are running iOS 10.2, you need at least iTunes 12.5.4.42 in order to sync/restore them.
