Windows partition gone after Yosemite installation

Hello,

My Windows partition has gone after installing Yosemite. I'm not sure if the Windows was installed with BootCamp because my wife has installed it 6 years ago and she says "I think I installed it with BootCamp." but not sure.

I have the same issue with this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6603591?start=30&tstart=0

I couldn't understand from that discussion much.

The Testdisk suite contains a utility called PhotoRec, which can scan the disk and extract files from damaged partitions. Do you want to consider using it to look for files? There are also commercial tools.

If Testdisk entries show damage, it is hard to recover the entire partition, but individual files may still be recoverable.

Hello,

PhotoRec receovered many of MS Data files. I'm happy with that, thank you very much for your help. I wouldn't do it without it. 🙂

I want to ask you one last thing, will it be better to format the master hard disk and install Yosemite again. Than install Windows using the Bootcamp or just leave this Yosemite installed and only to install the Windows?

Thank you very much!
