MacBook 2016 screen flickering

A few days ago my screen started to flicker. It looks like it rapidly turns on and off. It happens now and then and seems to end if one moves the mouse cursor to the top of the screen. I think it started after upgrading to macOs Sierra 10.12.3. Anyone else has this problem?

I have been having this same issue where my screen will start to flicker in a certain area it looks like a bunch of white bars at first I thought it was part of the video then I refreshed the page and they were no longer there. I had the 2017 MacBook Pro non touchbar this is the second unit I have had this problem with not identical but similar. User uploaded fileI am patiently waiting for apple to release a new version of the MacBook Pro as I do not trust the current version after having heard of this issue so many times and experienced it on 2 of my own

Please fix apple In need of a reliable machine!

I installed MacOS Mojave (beta) and that fixed the screen flickering issue caused by High Sierra upgrade. Thereafter, I am able to wipe out the HDD and boot to internet recovery and did a osx installation of El Capitan. I also managed to upgrade to High Sierra from El Capitan again after that. The screen flickering issue has not surfaced since installing Mojave.

This whole issue costed me $130 for sending my out of warranty Macbook Air into Apple authorised service centre for diagnostic and they even wanted to charge me another $900 for replacing logic board and battery to fix the screen flickering issue despite hardware diagnostic showing no error or issues with any of the hardware components.

Apple released this bugging High Sierra OS and caused so much inconvenient and $$$. On top of that, I had to wipe my data and on HDD and lost the use of my macbook for close to 2 months till Mojave beta is available for me to test.

I have had this problem a lot since the mention upgrade. The computer has now been in for an annoying keyboard change and they have tested everything whilst doing this.

I have cooped with the error by just restarting the computer and that has been enough. I have also turned automatically adjust brightness off. The new devices from apple are really sensitive. I wished that I had got the older model MacBook Pro and not the one with butterfly keyboard. However the keyboard that was faulty has been replaced and I hope that never happens again.

I also punched a new iPhone X last month and that one has got microphone issues. I wonder if apple is running to fast with development and should need longer test periods?

Anyway if the flickering is a bug I hope they fix this promptly.

Good luck with this and hope it works out.

Kindest,

Recently my 2016 MBP 15 inch retina display (2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 with Intel HD Graphics 530 1536 MB) began exhibiting the exact same problem you experienced. Your workaround solution to "disable GPU switching" did eliminate the flicking display problem. Like you, I'm concerned with the higher power consumption and its toll on the health of the battery.

BTW The problem began many months after installing High Sierra OS. I upgraded to Movaje OS hoping that it would solve the problem but it did not help.

Could you please tell me if your visit to the Genius Bar resulted in a better solution or fix?

Thanks,

John
