An error occurred installing IOS 10.2.1

Not sure if this is anything to do with the problem but a couple of weeks ago on my iPhone 6 I was deleting a few pictures and then I watched all my pictures delete themselves before my very eyes, and then all of a sudden they started coming back (minus my albums). Since then like I say I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I cannot download the new 10.2.1 software to my phone.

I have reset network settings, deleted from storage the software update, done a refresh when you hold the buttton instead of turning the phone off, have over 1gb of space which is masses compared to the actual software update itself but it's still not working. I have deleted loads, apps, pictures just to make sure I had plenty of room. Every time I do it it says unable to install update, an error occurred installing iOS 10.2.1.

Can anyone help? Never had a problem before, my phones only a year old, on 02. The photo attached is when it was charging but I've tried with 100%, charging, not charging. I am just clueless what else I can do without wiping everything .... turn it off, on, retry later, it just won't work :(

Same issues!

-watched as photos "flashed, "disappeared, reappeared. Some in the wrong order.

-all text messages disappeared. As I re-text/add back people and they reply, new messages don't sort to the top.

-people I text sometimes see "img#" icon instead of photos I send

-can't load newest update (10.2 something). It says "verifying" for a while then error.

The same thing has been going on with me, except I haven't had issues with texts or pictures disappearing. I've lost all the open browser tabs I had open in safari, & I lost all my contacts only to see them largely reappear.

As for the update, nothing I try works. I've been thinking of upgrading my phone, but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't just get a flip phone. It's all getting ridiculous.

Yes, I've had the crashing, too. My phone suddenly goes black, I get the spinning white wheel thing, then my phone comes back. If it's happened to as many people as have posted here in a short span of time, I'm sure it's happening on a large scale.

It would be nice if Apple would do something, but my phone is over 2 years old. There's not really any personal support from Apple, so I'm not sure we'll see anything happen anytime soon.

Same is happening to me. Tried all those methods and my phone still won't update.
My phone crashes and restarts about 5 times a day aswell, and I'm also having issues with photos - it doubled up on so many of them in a really low res quality and cropped them square which was super strange - and then I had to delete all the duplicates. All this has only started happening in maybe the past month or so. Really hope it'll get fixed soon.

Had the same issue. Tried deleting and re-downloading the update on different networks, but was only able to install the update via iTunes on a computer. Didn't have the issue with disappearing photos or texts, however, other "weirdness" was happening: many of the saved passwords disappeared, the alarm no longer worked (set the alarm, nothing happened when the alarm time comes, and the little clock icon stayed in the menu bar, even after deleting all the alarms), mail app often was missing the red bar indicating the number of unread messages (it reappeared after opening mail, then disappeared at random times again). Good news is that after the update the alarm is now working... just completed last night so not sure what other things may be fixed. Good luck.

So glad I found this thread.... thought I was losing my mind! I've been experiencing exactly what others have described. Photos dissapearing reappearing, WIFI and Bluetooth networks lost, phone dying with half battery, weird random black screen with spinning loading sign, and now all my conversations are gone as well. Can't update via phone, when plugged into computer iTunes says phone is up to date. I don't know what in the world is going on, but it seems we all are having the same problem.

I ended up "Erase All Contents and Settings" and restored from my backup. It looks like my issue was due to space, when you look at Software Update, the size of 10.2.1 is 363MB where in fact when you download it it occupies 2.6GB!

After restoring from backup, i had plenty of space and able to do update directly from phone. Everything is back to normal. I lost a couple of photos but its OK.

Hope this will help.

Thanks.
