An error occurred installing IOS 10.2.1

Not sure if this is anything to do with the problem but a couple of weeks ago on my iPhone 6 I was deleting a few pictures and then I watched all my pictures delete themselves before my very eyes, and then all of a sudden they started coming back (minus my albums). Since then like I say I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I cannot download the new 10.2.1 software to my phone.

I have reset network settings, deleted from storage the software update, done a refresh when you hold the buttton instead of turning the phone off, have over 1gb of space which is masses compared to the actual software update itself but it's still not working. I have deleted loads, apps, pictures just to make sure I had plenty of room. Every time I do it it says unable to install update, an error occurred installing iOS 10.2.1.

Can anyone help? Never had a problem before, my phones only a year old, on 02. The photo attached is when it was charging but I've tried with 100%, charging, not charging. I am just clueless what else I can do without wiping everything .... turn it off, on, retry later, it just won't work :(

I can't believe it's been several weeks now and nothing has been done about it!! I tried literally EVERYTHING on the book and NOTHING worked! it won't upgrade my iOS, whatsapp chat history says it's unable to recover photos, whatsapp blames it on apple... WTH IS GOING ON!? Then my iTunes says I have the latest software (which I'm not) some heads SERIOUSLY need to roll on apple, or I'll change my 10+ years of loyalty and switch to android cause this is just ridiculous!!!!

It's not a space issue.. I cleared up 5GB (via About page, 12GB via iTunes eval) on my iPhone and it still fails to install, so the OTA update seems broken on my iPhone 6S Plus.

What i suspect happens is that the update requires approximately 1.6GB free space to apply the OTA version and is missing the correct space requirement in the patch. So when it installs, it deletes somethings that it needs and then will fail epically as it is now.

Busy doing the install via iTunes now (2.5GB download vs the 60+MB) which I'm hoping will work. Will let you know what happens.. Hoping that whatever is missing or broken is present in the larger package.

Alrighty.. So I did the update via iTunes, had some issues where the bug it generated said it was a non-compatible device.

Checked on iPhone and the unpacked OTA was still there, deleted it via the Storage management in General section, then tried again and it worked. Yay.. Now to watch and see if it is more stable with the keychain access (multiple apps still having issues).

Also it should be noted that when browsing iphone storage.. data on the iPhone prior to update seems inaccessible. So e.g. Apple Podcast app lost access to all downloaded podcasts but it was still stored on iPhone.. weird..

Anyway.. Just awaiting new iPhone release and then i can do the restore on blank device. Yes.. i could do that now but i don't have time for downloading +/- 30-40 GBs of data over a 4-20Mb/s line meh.. and since I'm due for a new iPhone(contract) in less than 6 months I might as well wait.. Anyway I wiped the music & podcast apps so i could release the space.

Time will tell if its more stable. OK.. now time to log a bug for the new Pokemon Go app which seems to have a nasty bug which cashes app and iPhone..

The answer is murky.. iOS crashing in game yes.. general flakiness no (I've not experienced a crash in ios except when playing Pokemon Go/latest).

Yes.. the Pokemon Go app currently appears to crash & take iOS down badly in a periodic manner. I have not been able to determine the exact frequency or events involved are but what I've observed is that it crashes after a period of iOS being unlocked. So whether or not you have it in 'Battery Save Mode' makes no difference. You will see the screen go dark (even while playing) see processing spinner and then get thrown to the iPhone lock screen. It will also kill background apps active e.g. Music / Podcast which i often use in background.

The latest iOS version, 0.57.2, apparently also has issues wherein Apple Watch users (I am) who are updating the app (iPhone to Watch) aye experience a crash if playing while the push to watch occurs. Now the weird thing is I tried removing the Pokemon Go app from watch to see if it is more stable (albeit I do not often use the Watch app) and sadly no.. no difference. So not entire sure whats going on 😟

No..(General iOS flakiness with update is unrelated) because the Pokemon Go update happen way way down the line from when the iOS update got pushed out and my iPhone started acting up. i.e. iCloud, Keychain, etc access revoke all occurred prior to Pokemon Go Gen2/Interface Update release. Up until the last release I had no issues playing Pokemon Go on pre-patched version albeit I've been running into tons of access right, files, photos, keychain in accessable issues 😟 . Still sorting out app logins as I use them.

Now that I got my iPhone updated, I see Pokemon Go still having issues.. Interestingly my Gf's iPhone 5S has zero issues with Pokemon Go so maybe it is just related to Apple Watch? Do you have an Apple Watch too? Maybe its the iOS data for Apple Watch on iOS thats somehow causing issue.. who knows. Hoping Niantic pushes out an update ahead of their usual schedule as the crash ***** because it re-locks phones and kills my music haha.

I've done this process , multiple times and still yet no resolution. I have also experienced all of my texts disappear along with the overall function of the phones system rapidly disintegrating. Slow performance, quick battery run through and a glitchy system makes me quite sad . Not to mention it's affecting my ability to rely on its basic functions for efficiency ( ie voice recorder) I use this function to record lessons and frequently , it will only pick up part of the recording , so i've lectures that have blocks of silence in them . As a student this is not acceptable as you can imagine . With the cost of this product , it should be functioning properly . Please advise .

Thanks

same thing has happened to me. My iPad mini has done it and works just fine But my iPhone 6 won't download it and it's glitching and bugging like crazy. in my message feed people's names will just disappear and only their number shows up although they are in my contacts. Siri won't work half the time, if I try to send a picture it's just a grey square, my phone restarts with that white circle all the time, iTunes skips a lot even when connected to the internet, and this morning my alarm went off and when i hit snooze it kept going off then said I had -28.32 minutes remaining until it goes off again. Almost slept through my alarm! Half the time it doesn't even go off. The list of things going wrong is endless.... apps crashing, screen freezing... I try to download but it mostly says error but now it's saying it can't verify cause I'm not connected to the internet when I clearly am... so so frustrated. Haven't tried to download wit iTunes but everyone is saying that's not working either so I'm thinking, what's the point?

I've been having this problem too! My phone deleted all my pictures (more than once) and then tried restoring them.

My phone runs so slow. I'll open up the lockscreen and sometimes it will freeze around 5 minutes, it freezes up when I try to open any app and then, sometimes, my phone will crash and restart itself.

I'm trying to update it but it just keeps saying I can't.
