Folders on external SD turned into unix executable files
All of my photos in folders on an SD card suddenly turned into unix executable files (I think the card reader may have been faulty and disconnected disrupting the transfer process) and when I reconnected it all of the folders that containing .arw and. jpeg files had turned into a unix executable file. The computer this happened on a was a public mac computer but I am currently using a MacBook Pro, Mid 2014, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 Processor, 16 gb 1600 MHz DDR3 Memory, running El Capitan version 10.11.4. Here are some screenshots.
The first is what the SD card looked like before this happened and the second is afterward.
I have tried changing the file extensions, using terminal (though not 100% sure I did that correctly) and opening on a pc.
I have read all the previous discussions on here and nothing has worked - although I have not tried any photo recovery software yet, that will be my final step if there is no other way to troubleshoot this.
MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)
