Some Safari Website Data Will NOT Delete

Open Finder, Click on "Go" tab and select "Go to Folder",

Type in "~/Library",

Select "Safari", then "Databases" and move all files and folders to the trash (except for _IndexedDB).

Go back to Safari Preferences, Privacy, Manage Website Data, and "Remove All".

That should do it.

I have done this numerous times without success. I guess I am destined to carry this stupid ad data around until the end of days--but here's what it has done: I will now endeavor to make sure I never click another ad. Ever.

On my Ipad Air I also have this problem. Weather.com and fedex.com will not delete. Talked to Apple support on Twitter,but they seem highly uneducated. I have tried everything except resetting my Ipad. Not sure I can trust all my info to come back through Icloud. How come Apple refuses to fix this?

So I have found how to fix this, go to settings>general>reset>reset all settings. After reloads go to settings>safari> Clear history and website data, fixed, I've even gone to webapages that were stuck in their and I'm able to clean them out now. I haven't seen anyone else post this answer anywear yet. FYI I'm on most up to date realease as of today 10 July 2017

It could be considered that apple permitting tracking on their software like this when we expressly request it be deleted from safari/phone constitutes a material breach of data protection laws. Perhaps point this out to them to focus their priorities in fixing this and respecting customers privacy.

I also have this problem. The culprits are: Weather.com 68.0 KB and google.com 0 bytes.

I can live with the 0 bytes but it is more the principle of the thing... I have requested delete and it doesn't work....

I have the same problem even after installing iOS 10.3! I have a 68 kb chunk from Starbucks.com that I cannot remove. Tried restarting the phone and still it will not be deleted! Odd to see 68kb file there as all others I've seen including old Starbucks files were 64kb.

This did not work for me. Only wasted time in having to reset my wallpaper and app preferences.

Same here. It still didn't delete. Can Apple do something about this alread. So annoying

I hate to say this. The only way I was able to clear website data was to back phone up to icloud. Do a complete reset of phone then down load back up. I was thn able to clear web site data. Problem is Apple has a bug they must fix and you can run into this problem again when browsing, for now I would suggest using private browser in Safari when browsing to prevent some of or one of your browsing sites to geting locked in again on website browsing. I hope I am making some sense. Good Luck!

I am talking to Apple support in the morning hopefully they can find what the issue is a fix it for all of us.

It's great that you're trying to be helpful. However, you've made this same post in two different iPhone threads. Your solution has nothing to do with iPhones. It's a good idea to carefully read the original post and make sure you understand what device the person is using.

It's also not permitted to asked for recognition.

This is a well known and lame defect in the Safari app so here is my easy fix... albeit totally bailing on Safari.

1. Download the Firefox web browser. It's free from the App Store and set it up the way you want.

2. Turn Safari off. I.e. From the iPhone home screen>settings>general>restrictions>enable restrictions>four-digit pass code>safari>turn "off".

3. This will automatically remove the Safari icon from the iPhone tool bar. That's nice because you can simply drag the Firefox icon there. Now your our back in business with a more secure browser.

4. Of course you can always turn Safari back on when/if it gets fixed... but you may have decided you don't want it. It's nice to have options!

That seemed to take care of it on my iMac. I am now trying to figure out why the MyXfinity page will not properly load in Safari. It is slow and does not always load the email icon so I can't get to my emails. It is not working on Google Chrome or Firefox either. Really frustrating!
