iTunes Frozen/Unresponsive

When I try to open up itunes, it opens up, but has the loading icon on my mouse and dosn't respond to any actions. To close it down I have to close it via task manager. When I try to open a song/pocast via it's file location, itunes dosn't respond for several minutes untill then file randomly begins playing, but I cannnot stop it or use itunes. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that dosn't help. I'm on the latest version of itunes, it's the only program that's behaving this way on my computer and my OS is Windows 7.

I already went through the apple support stuff and none it worked, which is why I'm here.

I've tried starting as admin and in safe mode, but that is not working. Your first line "Try the following in turn until iTunes opens normally" seems a bit....hopeful. Anything else?

Windows Media Player is the solution I found to this problem.

What antivirus software do you have, if any? AVG seems to be causing a few users grief with the 12.6.0.100 build.

Kaspersky IS. I have turned it off but iTunes does the same. I did look in Kaspersky firewall settings and Bonjour and iTunes are allowed.

I left iTunes open all day yesterday, just sitting there spinning and not doing much, in the hope that it would connect at some point. But alas, nada.

Yeah - but now I'm wondering whether or not I should upgrade to 12.6.0.95 because it was clearly working before . Not sure if I can be bothered!!

All this was tried with the Apple tech on the phone.

JJust got off the phone with sr. Level tech from Apple. They know about the issue and was told will have to wait for either windows or apple to update to fix the glitch. Meanwhile, no iTunes.

I'm wondering if you actually got around to step 15 or simply reinstalled 12.6.0.100 instead of 12.5.5.5?

Yes, we tried installing an older version of itunes and that also did not work.

Good news. By all means wait until it has been out for a bit before thinking of reinstalling. Feel free to ask me about it first. I'm bound to have heard if there are unusual problems again.
