Can't Remove a Few Cookies Safari 10.1

After Safari update to 10.1 with Yosemite, several cookies can no longer be removed. Did the usual Prefs>Privacy>Manage Website Data>Remove All. When done, 3-4 cookies come back.

Tried Develop>Empty Cache, Always block cookies, turned WiFi off, cleared history, cleared iPhone & iPad history but these cookies still come back.

FWIW, two of the cookies are Yahoo & eBay. After deleting the cookies, I'm no longer logged into yahoo or eBay. So something got erased but the list in Manage Website Data still shows them being there.

Bug, something new, suggestions for really removing cookies?

Thanks

Safari/Browsers – can’t delete cookies

Evercookie

Quit Safari.

In Finder go to Go menu and then Go to Folder.

Copy and paste this ~/Library/Safari/Databases.

Delete the contents of the folder.

Launch Safari again and check if all is ok.

If that doesn’t work, copy and paste this ~/Library/Safari/Local Storage.

Delete the contents of the folder.

Test.

I, too, have noticed this new issue.

Three cookies persist even after "Removing All" from my list.

Cookies have always been my concern; my Private Browsing mode is enabled by default.

However, from what I can discern there's now no way for them to be removed.

I suppose in response, Firefox shall be my alt.

Attempts so far have been to:

Disable WiFi

Remove All Cookies
Clear Cache

Quit Safari
Via Terminal run command: dscacheutil -flushcache
Load Safari
Navigate to Safari Preferences > Privacy Tab > Manage Website Data

Cry at the site of persisting cookies.

Perhaps it has something to do with this?

Eric's methods killed 2 of 3
But one prevails.

Surely Apple can help me,
It's not like I'm needing Tails.

Not sure where this says Safari can't clear cookies.

In it's former glory it did,
Before Congress adopted the ISP bookies.

Alas, the remaining cookie is one 8fit.com
Honor "Do Not Track" they do not.

Tis a Persistent Cookie according to them.
Help me Root, you're my only friend.

Per 8fit:
Company uses persistent cookies. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive after you close your browser and may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the site. Persistent cookies can be removed by following your web browser's directions. You can reset your web browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some features of the Services may not function properly if the ability to accept cookies is disabled.

For several days, I've had ~Library/Safari folder sitting open on my Desktop so I can observe what happens & quickly delete all cookies from Databases & sometimes Local Storage folders. Most of the time this completely removes all cookies & they do not return until I revisit the sites that uses those.

But I recently found this strategy sometimes failed. In that case, clearing History before deleting cookies worked. This step removes LocalStorage.

Seems like these Evercookies use multiple ways for storing their triggers. So perhaps a combination of several steps will be needed. I will be checking the following steps to see if they yield success w/ really persistent cookies: clear History, clear caches & removing offending URLs from Favorites.

Thanks Eric for your suggestions. They have usually worked but not always.

Turning up empty-handed was the story of Easy Find,
Find Any File located unrelated files. Ugh, what a grind.

After reading Tradesmith45's attempt I thought, "Sure, why not?"
Safari > Clear History strangely -- this time (for an unknown reason) -- hit the spot.

Zero cookies remain,

I hope you enjoyed the plot.

This vagabond must march on,
But this should all be simpler, should it not?

Hi Eric Root,

I tried your suggestions posted 15 April:

"Quit Safari.

Test."

..and it seems to have worked. Thank you!

Here is what I found out (and I tried apps like Privatus which were basically useless) and I deleted db files from the Library folder, etc.) One person told me that sometimes a few bytes of data remain after a cookie is deleted (enough to identify the original cookie, but that it can't do anything because most of the program is trashed. After a few weeks of constantly deleting the same files over and over without effect, I finally had a clean computer (for about a week.) The problem cookies I had were from citibank, weather, and a few others (including eBay.)

I'm using macOS Sierra 10.12.6. have read and tried every suggestion in this thread and yet llbean, hilspet, and ups evercookies continue to pop back up after removal. I did remove them from the ~Library/Safari/databases folder. When I search for ~Library/Safari/local storage folder, Finder says that it doesn't exist. I deleted the Safari cache, cleared history, and deleted all the cookies through the Safari preferences privacy tab, yet there they are.

I wasn't particularly disturbed by them until I found that llbean is following me to yelp and other review websites. Then I receive emails from llbean citing my specific complaints and offering me 30% off to come back. I have tried to completely close and delete my former account but there is no way to do that on the llbean website. I'd change our email address but it would be a major undertaking and I don't believe I should be forced to do this. It's creepy and invasive. Surely there should be an answer.
