iOS 10.3 app hang problems

Hi, i recently upgraded my iPhone 6 to iOS 10.3 making a clean install without an iTunes copy.

I noticed that sometimes when i click an app icon to open it, the app won't open and the iPhone will not respond forcing me to do a hard respring.

I have restored my iPhone to iOS 10.3 two times and it is still happening, so it's a software problem.

Now, I'm downgrading my iPhone to iOS 10.2.1.

Is this happening to anyone?

Occuring both on my iPhone 7 Plus and iPad Air 2, both iOS 10.3 and 10.3.1

Restored my 7 Plus twice, once using iTunes and restored backup from PC (iOS 10.3), and once from iCloud (iOS 10.3.1). I deleted some apps that was not restored correctly from backup in the iCloud but it did not solve the problem.

Btw check this screenshot out, whenever I upgrade from 10.2 to 10.3 or 10.3 to 10.3.1, on my 7 Plus settings menu all apps installed disappeared below the Tencent Weibo. But all my apps are intact on the home page and I can still use them, until they become corrupted. Once the app becomes corrupted there is no way to restart the app UNLESS use you force reboot. Even deleting and reinstalling the app does NOT work.User uploaded file

I have more than 50 apps installed, but non of them show up on the settings menu.

I believe it's a RAM management problem, since this problem always occur when I am switching apps or when I restart the app after I force kill them. I assume APFS cannot clear the app from the RAM completely, leaving the app to be stuck in the RAM, corrupted. Then whenever you load the app from the RAM it loads the corrupted app, and thus rendering it to be useless. Reinstalling does not help since once the corrupted app is stuck within the RAM, it stays there until reboot. Assume you reinstall the app, once the app loads it will read from the corrupted RAM data again, thus unable to start the app.

Has yet to observe on my newly restored 7 Plus on 10.3.1.

Oh yes... I thought I'm the only one having this problem O.o

Yes, my iPad Pro 9.7" does the same thing. Sometimes when I want to launch an app, the ipad just hangs.. and only way out is hard reset, holding Power + Home for 10 seconds. iPad Pro 9.7 in 128 GB wifi only. Had no issues whatsoever with iOS 10.2.1, but moved to iOS 10.3 and this started happening.

Sometimes is just like out of the blue, without warning. But there is a way for me to reproduce it with almost 100% success rate. I just open a bunch of apps, (10+ just to be sure), then I go to multitasking (double press on Home or four-fingers up-swipe), then I quickly close (swipe-up) all the running Apps, then after the last App closed I quickly start any app again on the springboard. The launched app will just hang, and hard reset is the only way out.

For the record, I also upgraded to 10.3.2 beta, and it has the same problem. Can't even go back to 10.2.1 now... as my iTunes backups are already overwritten with 10.3. 😟 Hope they solve this 😟

and I thought it has to do with the A9X processor in the ipad pro 9.7

This is incredibly annoying. Could it have to do with some corrupt iCloud sync data ? Did you restore your apps and settings from iCloud or completely new iphone 7 devices ? Or to put it in another way: did problems begin before or after you restored apps and settings from your icloud account ?

Quick update here: looks like the issue is gone on my device, can't reproduce it anymore... but.. I am still searching to find what was causing it.

What I did:

- logged in and out of my Facebook and Google accounts (Facebook was telling me in settings that there was a problem with my credentials ? - (no problem whatsoever with them, I can log on just fine on other devices) - but somehow my iPad could not link to my account. Weird thing was that the Facebook App itself was working and not saying anything about account or login problems.

- Turned location services off and on again, with restarts inbetween.

- Removed all the third-party Non-Apple Apps from the lock-screen, and in fact this is the most likely culprit....because an-ill-behaving app (widget?) on the lock screen might mess with springboard itself (I might be wrong, have to look this up).

so yeah, it works perfect now, no app-launch freezes, no springboard re-springs, no nothing. btw. I am on iOS 10.3.2

beta, cant go back so I will wait for the official release that goes past this beta.

HI, have you tried removing the lock screen widgets ? I have a strong feeling it was one of the widgets... I AM NOT giving tye name of the widget because I am not yet sure, and I dont want to make bad publicity... all I can say I am suspecting a third party widget showing system-information related things. Since I removed all third party widgets, I had zero crashes, lockups, resprings or any problem.

No way hahaha, everyone here has Lirum Info Widget or is using that app. I love that widget since I can monitor the ram/cpu usage directly from the lockscreen. Looks like we have found the culprit...

Nice work!

I am going to try that on my iPad Air 2 first, since I rolled back to ios 10.2.1 on my iPhone already 😝

EDIT: removed the widget, did a force reboot, and tried your "100% success rate bug action", didnt occur to me at all. Let me monitor it on my upgraded iPad for 1 week, then I am upgrading back to ios 10.3.1 on my iPhone 🙂

PS: I tried again just to be sure it's Lirum. Added back the widget, and performed heavy multitasking, and after shutting down all apps the 1st app that I run will not be booted. Remove the widget, force restart, and did exactly the same thing again, NO PROBLEM YEA

Same here, the problems are 100% on iOS 10.3 and 10.3.1 before my devices (iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s) works well.

After downgrade to 10.2.1 no problems so far. I have tested many different thinks ( Installed iOS 10.3 via WLAN, installed via iTunes, installed via iTunes in DFU Mode, with Backup, without Backup...) allways the same...

I called costumer service and received a new iPhone 6s but the same Problems.
