Safari cannot load websites

Hi,

Since last week, Safari cannot load specific websites. In particular, I cannot access any of the papers stored in the journal http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/ Obviously I initially though it would be a problem in the journal's server, but I can access the same websites in other computers, and what is more annoying, from the same Mac but using google Chrome. Therefore, it's really a problem with Safari.

I have tried disabling extensions, cleaning history and empty cache, and the problem persists.

What else can I try?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Update: same problem also happens in Safari on my iphone. It's all fine in Chrome, but this is not my default browser, so I need to make it work in Safari

dominic23, I have tried unplugging the router, DNS, block pop-up windows, and deselecting proxies. None of these have worked. Thanks for the advice though
