digital output dropping after ios 10.3.1 update

I am using a lightning to USB adapter to connect from my iPhone 6 Plus to a Chord Mojo DAC/amp. After upgrading the phone to iOS 10.3.1 the digital output drops completely after a few minutes and I need to unplug and restart the app. The issue is the same for Apple Music, Tidal and Spotify. When I use the Mojo with my MacBook I don't have any issues. I think this is a bug in the latest iOS version. Has anyone else experienced this issue and what is the fix? Can I go back to the previous version of iOS? Thanks

Hi

When using electronic accessories with your iPhone, ensure that they are either genuine Apple products or that they have been certified as Made for iPhone under the MFi program. Certified items come with the "Made for iPhone" logo on them and/or on their packaging.

Using uncertified or counterfeit accessories may damage your iPhone and/or adversely affect operation. Apple's warranty does not cover damage caused by use with a third party product that does not meet Apple's specifications.

I am also having this issue with a certified MFi device, the Oppo HA-2SE Digital to Analog Converter / Amplifier. Frequent losses of audio via lighting/USB connection to the device. Often happens when network traffic is initiated(browser being used, app login, etc). The iPhone Music app appears to continue playing but there is no audio, and you have to disconnect/reconnect to get audio back. Oppo support is aware of the issue and have stated that it is an issue on the iOS side(as evidenced by multiple devices from different manufactures suddenly having issues after iOS 10.3x).

I am experiencing the same issue with a Behringer X 32 mixer. I have been using this configuration for over a year without any issue, but since 10.3.1 it connects and works for 15 seconds and then I get a message that the external device is not compatible. This is an unacceptable degradation that I fear was intentional on Apple's part. I am going to attempt to roll back to the previous version.

OK, so I tested this yesterday on a flight with my HA2 (Approved apple device), Ipad Mini 3 and Bose QC20s. HA2 set to low gain.

1. Playing music only using "Equaliser" app that is my usual player, screen off, airplane mode on..... played ok for at least an hour.... I dozed a little but it was still playing when I woke up.

2. Opened the ipad cover, and the music stopped through the headphones but was still playing in the app. Turned the HA2 off and on, and pressed play and away we go again.

3. Tried again, and this time the music kept playing while the iPad was opened and screen on, so I turned off airplane mode (its OK there was WiFi on the flight) and the music stopped after a minute or two.

4. Tried playing some videos that were downloaded into the Netlfix app. Had a few cutouts of sound in 15 mins.

Seems to me with this limited test, and my experience last week on a train and on the weekend, that the issue affects the connection to the HA2 if the ipad (or phone?) is doing some intensive work such as playing a video, trying to connect to networks etc. If it's doing nothing else, with the screen off, it seems to be OK.

This did not happen on earlier iOS versions

Cheers

Just updates my iPhone 6s to 10.3.2. I don't have my HA-2 with me at work so I'll try it tonight when I get home. I spoke to Oppo about this issue and they said that if you use a long lightning to USB cable this problem occurs less. I tried it and it appears to work. I pressed Oppo for some info about a firmware fix from Apple and they had no answer. You would think that if a company markets a device to partner with an iPhone and it is MFI certified it should work. I'm thinking of buying a stand alone DAP. Carrying a phone and a DAP would be no different than a phone and DAC amp except you could keep them in separate pockets.

Same issue is happening with may Peachtree Nova150 amplifier, also a Made for Apple certified device.

This really needs to be fixed. I contacted Peachtree support prior to the most recent update (10.3.2), and they said this is 100% an Apple issue, and that they were told it would be fixed with the next update. 10.3.2 came out, I installed immediately excited for the issue to be fixed ---- sigh, it is *not* fixed.

This change was not made to protect iOS devices from damage, but to protect the financial interests of Apple. Apple is in effect saying, "you don't actually own the device you purchased from us and we reserve the right to control how you use it." The telling aspect of this change isn't that the device ceased to perform the task I have been using it to perform for the prior two years. I could fully expect a 'bug' in a new release. The telling aspect is that it still works as it did for the first several minutes and then stops, with a warning message that has been "designed". This is not an inadvertent software change with unexpected use case implications, this was apparently a purposeful sabotage of a use case that Apple doesn't like.

And this is a bunch of BS since there are devices that are Apple certified to use with Apple products. If they don't want us using aftermarket DAC's then they should announce it and let us make a decision. I have a very expensive and wonderful Chord MOJO that is useless with my Iphone 7. No I use no DAC and a low OHM V-Moda Crossfade headphone to get by. *****!

I am also facing same issue Oppo HA-2 SE which is a MFi certified product. Suspecting the supplied cable with Oppo, I used Apple Supplied Cable with iPhone 6 but result seems to be same. iPhone will get disconnected although iOS will show that Oppo HA2SE is still output device but there are no audio. Solutions seems to be restart Oppo, or simply reset the connection by removing and reattaching the cable or changing the sector switch on Oppo. Another solution is to Pause the audio and wait for a minute or two. Then play and "sometime" audio would come back. This is quite frustrating.

Same issue - just purchased an Oppo - IHA-2SE, and had already upgraded to iOS 10.3.2.

I spoke to Oppo support in UK and they recommended switching to Airplane Mode as a temporary workaround. It does reduce the problem - audio hardly drops out at all, although doesn't prevent the issue completely.

Obviously isn't a great solution, but I can live without the 'phone for my commute.

I noticed that if I pause the audio for a few seconds, then play again, audio re-instates. So no need to keep unplugging the unit or switching it off.

Also, tried the Zeskit Pro lighning to USB cable to replace the one that comes with the unit from Oppo, as it drops out also. Happy to report the Zeskit cable works well, and looks good quality, but pricey:
