Albums in Photos not showing up on iPhone

I have two Albums in Photos which are designated to be synched with my iPhone.

Within iTunes - iPhone - Photos

Sync Photos is checked.

Selected albums is selected.

Include videos is checked.

Two Albums are checked (their names are "On iPhone" and "Temp on iP".

Total photos indicated are 410.

I then press the Sync button, and iTunes appears to sync with my iPhone. But the two selected Albums do not appear in Photos on my iPhone.

Help?

iPhone 7, iOS 10.2

Yeah, I want the option to use my devices as I prefer. The only reason that Apple has structured it this way is to force people to use iCloud. I don't know why, I don't see any logic in it, but someone at Apple must have a reason.

I could do it the way I want to until I recently updated from iPhoto to Photos. Now "Sync" no longer synchronizes my Albums.

So now I won't be using my iPhone for taking and sharing photos so much. Which it probably a good thing - I should be using my DSLR anyway. Thank you Apple.

WRONG. I tried to use iCloud for my photos and it was a disaster. It wouldn't sync my smart albums and I couldn't edit photos in the cloud. I put everything back on my Mac (3 visits to the Genius Bar) and ended up losing all my videos in the process. I will not use iCloud for photo storage.

it pays to read about what you are doing before you do it - iCloud Photo Library is documented not to sync smart albums and it is not a place to store photos and video but a syncing service to keep multiple libraries in sync so all changes made to any of the libraries (additions, deletions or edits) are made to all of them

I have the same problem. I created folders in sync image pages. None of these pages appears in Iphone. The funny part, when I open the app "Photo Cast", to cast pictures in Chrome Cast, all folders synced appears there as folders like the folder in computer.

In the past, Apple put all folders in the end of first page of Photos app. Like "synced with itunes folders", and all folders where there, impossible to edit.

But now no. No folders more. only the pictures appears and its hard to find among thousands os pictures.

I have an iphone X. Photo syncing to my albums worked the first few times and then 11.2.2 came out and all the sudden it syncs, but the new photos don't show up in the albums. I find it ridiculous we spend over a thousand dollars for a phone with over 200g and I can't sync my photos to my phone. There's zero reason this should happen and Apple should fix this issue ASAP. I'm over it. At first I just thought it was my previous phone, because when I got the new one it worked, until the update. Whatever the problem is it supposed to be a simple feature that I shouldn't have to spend hours trying to get new pictures to sync. Funny how years ago it worked no problem, and now while I have face recognition, which is cool, but pointless, i can't get my pictures to sync. Regression if you ask me.

I can't tell if this has helped or not! As A reference:

Folder - a directory or folder on my Mac

Album - a group of Pics on my iPhone that have a 1 to 1 correspondence to a folder in a folder called Pictures on my Mac

Under each Album name on my iPhone there is a NOTE with this format: "# from my Mac", where the # is supposed to be the count of Pics in the Album and should be the same number as pics in the Folder on my Mac (inside the folder Pictures).

The folders on my Mac are in another folder called Pictures (as I said above). This folder is pointed to in iTunes and I have selected each folder to transfer pics to the iPhone. (yes, I manually selected over 3400 folders as you can't select them in any "normal" Mac way - such as with the Command key to select non-sequential items in a folder or the Shift key between selections in a folder.)

I have over 3400 Folders in the Photos folder on my Mac with over 120,000 items. I have some Albums in Photos on my iPhone that have the NOTE "0 from my Mac" but there are pics in that album! I also have some Albums on my iPhone that have a NOTE "# from my Mac" that are NOT the right count of Pics! So far I've only found Albums that have either one of 3 possibilites of the NOTE: 1) "0 from my Mac", 2) "# from my Mac" where # is less than the actual count of Pics in the Album, 3) "# from my Mac" where # is the correct number of Pics in the Album. I have NOT yet found an Album with more pics in the NOTE than in the Album, but I've got 3400+ to check!

Thanks Jay Ducharme. I had found that the albums still existed if I access the photos on my iPhone via Instagram, but was frustrated that I couldn't see them directly through Photos. Glad to find out that just doing a simple search reveals them. But... I wish Apple would just make it as it used to be so the Albums are just there without having to look for them.

I am using iOS 11 on my iPad mini 4. I have had inconsistent luck with syncing photos. When I synced my latest album, it didn’t show, but did when I searched it. I moved the album in my Mac Photos to be with the other albums that did display. This time the album showed. I tried synching another album that was on my Mac near the “display” albums, but it didn’t display unless I searched for it. I unchecked that album, synced my Photos. Then I checked that album and synced again. This time the album showed. Like I said inconsistent.

You could try unchecking your “Family” album, syncing, and then checking it again and resynching. It might work.

i use Photo's and my iPhone, MBA and iMac are all in sync. The onlything that does not work is "Smart Albums" on the iPhone.

I hve a series of folders 1990's, 2000's and inside each of these folders is a nested smart album 2000, 2001, 2002 etc. On the iphone I can see the folders and the drop down to show the smart albums but... they are all empty. however all the smart albums are on the iPhone with the content but they just look like random albums. it is very strange because they exist outside the folders. All the Mac's are pefectly in sync.

iCloud is also strange, showing my hidden photos to all and sundry. it nearly caught me out as if I show people some albums on my lap top I know it is not going to show beach shots as they are huidden so you can imagine my horrow when I logged on to iCloud inthe office to show a collegue a photo of a sail fish I had caught cmd Q never got opressed so quickly so watch out.

I am experiencing the same problem. I have the latest OS High Sierra on my MAC and just purchased the new iPhone 10 (and just downloaded the latest IOS version to my iPhone 10 which came out on April 24, 2018). So everything is up to date. However, when SYNC'g from Photos to iPhone using iTunes, I too see the selected Albums showing in the iPhone upon completion, however the number of photos in a given album that now appear on the iPhone are "equal to" or "less than" the amount of photos which are in the respective album on the MAC. Maddening indeed. I was on the phone with several Apple Support persons over the past 2 days. No clear answer or explanation was given as to why I am experiencing this. The Apple Support person helped me create a data file for Apple Engineers to evaluate. I was told it will take 3-4 days for them to evaluate and get back to me. Based on reading previous threads here, I am not feeling confident they will provide a solution.
