iOS 10.3.2 update drains battery

I have an iPhone 7 Plus. I have had no battery life issues until updating to iOS 10.3.2. Prior to the update I would get a full day of use. I could go from 6 am to 11 pm and still have 20% battery life left. Since updating to 10.3.2, I am at 50% battery life by midday with light use, and need to charge before leaving work for the day. Anyone else having this same issue since upgrading to iOS 10.3.2?

Hello pechapa,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand from your post that since updating to iOS 10.3.2 your battery life has decreased. New updates have new features that can use more battery life than previous software versions. I recommend using the steps from the following article to maximize your battery life:

I'm afraid this is definitely and IOS issue as my 6 month Iphone 7 suffered bad battery discharges just past the update to ios 10.3.2, I did EVERYTHING was suggested by the Apple support in any form, disable everything I could , restored 2 times BUT despite all the diagnostic was giving Apple the battery excellent the draining was visible to te naked eye, so.. all in a sudden my phone did start to get hotter up to a point that I decided to bring it to the Apple center were they decided to swap it to a new one with 10.3.1 installed.. since then I enjoyed 50% battery consuming with my normal use up to 12-14 hours BUT again because Apple is just programming the update to be VERY annoying in order to avoid the pushing message on my screen for the update ( why not programming a confirmation for the update ) I actually press the wrong button and it went to updating to ios 10.3.2.. ****! GUESS WHAT? now the battery is back to drain visibly and this is absolutely my last prove that the ios is buggy and something is really wrong.. will downgrade immediately to 10.3.1 and stay away from the ios 10.3.2 as far as I can.. thank you for this nice experience Apple.. last product from me ( also own an ipad pro and macbook..were th ipad pro wen SLOOOOOW in charging the battery past the 10.X update.. was normal when it was 9.X )

I'm using iPhone SE and had the battery drain issue. Besides, my iCloud could not do the back up by saying "some files were unavailable during the last backup” no matter thru automatic or manual modes. I tried to reset the phone several times but not had no success. Finally I used the DFU mode and restored it from iTunes back up. The phone is working very good now with IOS10.3.2. It's worth to try!

I am using an iPhone 6 plus model. I have no idea when I updated it to the 10.3.2 iOS but I noticed some strange issues on my battery life. I usually use my phone for IG only and text messaging with some short durations of Internet browsing and I charge my phone at night. Usually the battery can last for a day. However, these few days, I noticed that my plug got a bit hot and the phone was charging up in a strange manner. I did sometimes interrupt the charging process so I wonder if I messed up the battery. I tried to let the phone shut down at 0 percent but then it doesn't help much. I even got a new cable tonight to see if the old cable was the culprit. The phone is now charging up in a weird manner. Within a minute or so, it jumped from 0% to 7%. Then when I clicked the screen off, and in another minute, it jumped up to 16%. Again I tried, the next minute it went back to 11%. I am charging it but the battery percentage is fluctuating. I wonder if it's my battery issue or if it's a software bug. I hope Apple can provide a solution to this. I have been using iPhone for quite some years but truly it needs some good post-sales support and software development in order to maintain the confidence of your users. With such issues, it's difficult to be tempted to get the next generation of your company's product.

I will never be able to understand why we all have to reset and restore our phones every single time after an update. Personally, I always wait for the last minute when an update appears. Updates either ruin my battery or slow down my iphone 6. This is not the first time that I have come across with this problem. These so called updates are supposed to better your phone and fix your problems but every single time after an update I find myself searcing on forums about how to downgrade and I am sick of it. Back up everything, restore, download the back up, these are all too much to deal with during work. We are paying enough money to deserve good quality. It shouldnt be too hard to give it to people. Now when they release a 10.3.3 updatish thing god knows what 'surprises' it will bring to us.

Since 10.3.x, my 6s has had rapid battery drain. I have tried EVERY option to reduce battery drain. The only effective option is Low Power Mode with no apps running and Location Services OFF. I kill apps immediately after use so there is no background app usage.

with each of my current and 2 previous iPhones, I've used Endomondo and other activity tracks SIMULTANEOUSLY during bikes of 2-4 hours and the battery drained to 70-72%. Yesterday with only Endomondo the battery was at 29% after 3 1/2 hours. I travel the same routes for most rides so the only variable is the OS version.

Also, Lower Power Mode was turned of over night as my phone was in LPM when I left it last evening and not in LPM when I checked it the morning.

This appears to be a 'kill the older devices' upgrade. I use the phone for email, as a cell phone, podcast playing(not streamed), and occasional web browsing- no music, TV, or streaming. So I can replace it with just about any other smart phone in a few months and abandon this spiraling unnecessary upgrading.

The fix should not be difficult so it's up to Apple to step up.

I think I'm close to the solution Am now testing with an iphone 5c and 5 and 5s And from the iphone 5C,and 5 I can already say that looks good on 10.3.2 10 percent battery at 10 hours time No warming up Normal temperature In standby mode Plus wifi is on 5S I have to test further Before I can say something about it But if it looks good, I will post the solution here 🙂 But it's not easy to run it
