iPad Pro 10.5 screen randomly freezes - anyone else have this?

Brand new (obviously) iPad Pro 10.5. It happens, very intermittently but it happens. It's like the touch screen is dead. Double-clicking the home button brings up the task list. You can then move to a different app. But then the screen is still dead. Turning the screen off and on will reset things, so that the screen becomes live again. Frustrating and not something I've ever seen before. This is my fourth iPad. Maybe it's defective? Just wondering is it just me or do other people see this too.

Thanks for replying. Software is up to date. So far, restart or reboot has not been necessary. Simply recycling wake/sleep brings the screen back to life. it's still very intermittent.

Looks like not a lot of people experience this.

I have ipad 9.7 inch, two years old. This was a very rare problem for me over the last year until the past month, in which it has become more frequent. At this point, it is happening every couple of minutes and taking longer and longer to recover. I updated to the newest 12.0 iOS and it continues to be a problem. So very frustrated because when it does recover, it pops up with apps that I did not open and has keystrokes that I did not make, as if the ipad is possessed!

You must do several things.

1. Back up to your iCloud account.

2. Erase and reset back to factory settings.

3. Connect your iPad to iTunes on your computer

4. Set up as new divice from iTunes

Note: Stay connected to your computer until the update is completed!! DO NOT set up from back up! This was only done “just in case.”

Connect to your computer for all future updates to ensure solid updates. WiFi is sketchy and not always reliable. ANY interruption during updates no matter whether a second, or a minute, can cause updates to load improperly and result in glitches on your device.

Mine was freezing on both the swiping up and down also the keyboard randomly froze. Phoned helpline and advised to do a total restore which I did. For about two weeks it was fine and then yesterday started freezing again ...... two days before my warranty ends (having already had a replacement iPad in September because i got a permanent line across the screen but had no freezing on that one so maybe should have lived with the line rather than the freezing!)

anyway, phoned Apple and they said to send it to them. Not hopeful reading comments as it would appear to be an inbuilt fault on this model. ☹
