iPhone alarm is silent randomly

Hi everyone,

Since a few weeks it happens that my alarm clock doesn't come on with sound every time. When I wake up and set it just for checking, it rings again. It happened about 5 times, one time I woke up while it was alerting, but only the screen showed the alarm.

I really depend on this alarm clock but I can not trust it anymore :-( what to do?

I've actually watched the alarm go off but it did not vibrate NOR sound. The thing is, I have set like 5 alarms for the AM. It is weird considering that some alarms actually do sound, but one or two do not.

I've read the suggestions:

Confirmed: Do Not Disturb is NOT on

Confirmed: Not connected to any bluetooth device

Confirmed: Each alarms is set to sound

I haven't read the complete thread but I've just registred to let you know that the exact same thing happened to me now as well.

I ran late for an important appointment because my $1000 iPhone X is not able to reliably activate an alarm. This has happened before, however I thought it was my bad -- it just didn't come to my mind that such an expensive phone could have such a ridiculous flaw.

Any support from Apple so far?

I have Iphone 11...This has happened to me too, I thought I finally fixed the problem 2 days ago when I updated my phone then alarm worked the next day (I did also set 5 other alarms 1 minute apart to MAKE SURE it would work). I assumed the problem fixed itself. I set a later alarm for this morning because it wasn’t important to be up, just important to me. I was half awake and the alarm NEVER made a sound in the last 30 minutes that it was “going off”. I have tried all your “solutions” but nothing works as you say it will. I think Apple should be replacing phones at this point if you have so many people with the same issue not being properly solved.

IOS 13.4.1 my timer randomly works and then does not work. I use it for 20min reminders and not changing anything on the phone inbetween setting the reminders. Sometimes the timer works, other times it does not. I make a point of checking that I have actually set the timer and that it has begun counting down. When I get a sense of 'has 20mins not yet passed?', I pick up phone and what is showing is the starting display of the 20min duration. I'm manually setting my timer for 20mins two to three times/hour for 5hrs/day (20mins study periods). It happens several times per day, for no reason at all (meaning I've not touched/changed anything inbetween starting a new 20mins period). I've seen that this problem is ongoing over years...and Apple have not fixed it. WHY?

The following suggestion "Attention Aware Features" was turned on. When I turned the feature off, alarm started working as normal. To turn it off go to Settings-->Face ID and Passcode--> Attention Aware Features = off" is not available on my iphone 8, IOS 13.4.1, thus I still have the problem of intermittent correct working of the alarm.

what Mi_LDN_M SAID FIXED IT!!!!!!!!! DO THIS!!!!!

I’m having the same problem with my alarm. It will make a sound for like a second then go silent. The screen shows that it should be alarming. Also when mine is doing this certain video apps like tik tok, Joyce Meyer, they do the same thing. They place for second or two then stop. I’ve called Apple and they were getting with their specialists and nothing ever happened. I’ve even been given a new iPhone and just recently bought the newest phone on market.

This problem on my iphone 7 plus began right after I installed 13.4.1. This is why I generally avoid iphone installs!! Apple if you want us to install your updates, please don't fix what ain't broken!

As this thread is two years old, the problems are probably not related to updates. It's unfortunate that this is a relatively rare symptom of what appears to be a number of different problems. This makes it very hard to determine all of the causes. If you go through the thread, you'll find that some people were able to resolve their issues. You should try the various solutions listed throughout the thread and see if any of them work for you.

APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS! This has been going on for years! I have a $1000 iPhone XS and I should be able to depend on it. This is a very important feature for so many people, especially those who travel. Who does wake up calls anymore anyway? I was late for work today. This isn’t the first time the alarm didn’t sound but yet shows that it’s working on the screen. What is happening here??!!!!!!! THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE!!! Please respond to this! The original post was in 2017 and here we are still replying to the same question in another decade!!!!!

Apple is not reading here and they are not going to respond here.

If you've read the thread, you'll come to understand that the alarms not going off is a symptom of several different identified problems and probably some unidentified ones. It also isn't a very common problem. Both of those things mean it's very difficult to troubleshoot.

I am having the same issue and for the longest I was misled into thinking that I might just be an extremely deep sleeper smh. I find it very frustrating that I cannot rely on my iPhone alarm app to carryout the simple function of emitting a sound to alert me while the active alarm notification displays on my screen. This has resulted in me having to purchase an actual alarm clock which has sort of been a hassle of its own. From the earlier posts in this forum, I see that this is a prevailing issue dating back to 2017 and Apple is still having the same exact complaints three years later. My day consistently revolves around alarms between work, projects, etc. I have always championed Apple as a company and, therefore, would appreciate if they would start to live up to the standards that they advertise and fix this issue immediately....
