Connection error to iTunes Store

Can someone help me please? I have never had a problem connecting to the iTunes Store until two days ago. When I try and connect I get the following error message: "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection was reset. Make sure your network connection is active and try again."
My Network Connection is active. Nothing has changed on my computer that I am aware. So why all of a sudden can I not connect? I have been on the support pages and found nothing useful. I have tried the Network Diagnostice which just confirms at the bottom:
"Connection attempt to Apple web site was unsuccessful.
The network connection timed out.
Connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
The network connection timed out.
Secure connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
The network connection timed out."
Help someone please??

HI all,maverickapollo is right!!
i have called my local apple support center and they told me the same thing. it is not our windows (computer) problems. it is all due to the earthquake that happened few weeks ago in Taiwan. this effect out small home use server! if u are using a bigger /faster server at work! sure no problems!

i am working in MATTEL and itunes works smoothly! only no luck at home!

what we can do is sit down and pray hard for it returns! :o)

It is quite funny, I am getting this message too from my PC but from the PC of my daughter (same account) that is just 3 meters away I am downloading my favorite Podcast.
Funny is also that I've run the iTunes Diagnostics and this tells me:

Network Connection Information

Active Connection: LAN-Verbindung
Connected: Yes
Online: Yes
Using Modem: No
Using LAN: Yes
Using Proxy: No
SSL 3.0 Support: Enabled
TLS 1.0 Support: Enabled

Firewall Information

Windows Firewall is off.

Connection attempt to Apple web site was successful.
Connection attempt to iTunes Store was successful.
Secure connection attempt to iTunes Store was successful.

So according to the diagnostics I am connected but the same I am not connected:

Funny

I hope we can all connect soon or maybe there will some other service making the iTunes money.

It seems like it's the search function that's crazy. We tried searching The Click Five and it worked, but tried Juliana Theory and get "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection timed out." But we're obviously connected to the Internet and can browse the iTunes store - just CAN'T SEARCH. Sounds like lots of folks are having this problem.

I wonder if this has something to do with the ISP? Since around/after the earthquake in Taiwan I start to notice I can't get on iTS in office (ISP: TMnet - DSL)... But at home (ISP: DiGi - EDGE) I still able to get into iTS browse+download and update my podcast... Tried in Starbucks here (ISP: TimeNet - Hotspot) same error. Hmmm...

add another person to the list. I haven't been able to connect since before Christmas. I called Apple and the walked me through some troubleshooting and weren't able to resolve the issue and suggested I talk to my internet service provider (Comcast) or my computer manufacturer. I contacted Comcast and they tried a couple of things but after a while said that if I can connect to the internet than it must be an iTunes problem and to contact them.

I'm growing very impatient

I have a similar problem, but it only involves the search engine in the iTunes store. When I click on some ad on the main store page, stuff comes up. I just can't search on anything. I tried rebooting my computer and resetting my DSL modem, but I didn't try turning off anti-Virus. (I don't think it would do any good.) I'm in the mid-USA. It's too bad nobody is getting much response from Apple on this!
