Windows 10 does not find device

When I plug my iPad into my Windows 10 computer nothing happens. The PC doesn't respond or see the device. Nothing happens at all, as if I hadn't plugged in the device at all. I've tried 3 different cords, although all have been known to work, including an Apple cord purchased directly from Apple. I tried 3 different USB ports, even though all the ports work with different devices. I tried Apple phone support and all of their suggestions but nothing worked. I tried the PC manufacturer who told me that maybe they could fix it for $89 per hour, so I haven't gone down that road yet. Any suggestions?

I guess I wasn't clear on my previous replies. There are multiple photos residing on the iPad. When I plug in the iPad to my PC there is no response of any kind. Nothing in explorer, no reaction, nothing at all.

So I have conducted a few additional experiments after all the above advice was tried. I took my wife's iPhone and plugged it into her PC to confirm that her PC will recognize an Apple device. She does this routinely, but I wanted to confirm that this remained true today, right now. Her PC did indeed recognize her iPhone, as is normal. Then, using the same cord, I plugged in my iPad to her PC and got no response. Nothing. Nothing in Explorer. No response whatsoever. Next I plugged in my wife's iPhone into my PC. My PC detected my wife's iPhone no problem, confirming that my PC will indeed recognize an Apple device. This indicates to me that my PC's USB port is physically functional and that my software will recognize an Apple device. I have concluded that it must be the port on my iPad since I have already confirmed that the PC and cable are working on multiple PC's. So at this point I have made a reservation with the genius bar at the closest Apple store. I don't believe I have a can of compressed air and I don't want to hit it with my industrial air compressor which may have too much pressure and/or may not be completely clean.

Thank you for your ongoing help, if nothing else it has eliminated most of the other possibilities.

You can't sync it over wifi unless you've already set that up via itunes.

Try to go into the control panel, programs, add/remove programs (the exact path varies between windows 8 and 10 but you should be able to find it)

Uninstall:

iTunes

apple mobile device services

apple application support

reboot your computer then redownload and reinstall iTunes (You should not lose content, I never have, this only removes iTunes itself not the library)

For good measure give your iPad a reboot by holding down the sleep and home keys for 20 seconds or so. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot then try again.

Removing iTunes and those other two things removes the drivers, forcing the good ones to install. My guess is tha windows sometimes thinks it has good drivers when it really doesn't. Uninstalling those programs forces the issue and is an easier way to remove the drivers than digging around in the device manager.

Thanks for your suggestions. Working with other helpful responders I had already identified these possible solutions and tried them. Multiple times actually. Unfortunately they didn't work. It really does appear at this point that I have a hardware problem, probably a bad lightning port, although I'll reserve judgement until I've had a chance to talk to the folks at the genius bar.

Brainerdmobil, thanks for your response. I tried all of your suggestions even before I started this thread but unfortunately it didn't help. After much trial and tribulations I have determined that the lightning port is not functioning and had this confirmed at the Apple Store. The store claims this can't be fixed, so at some point soon I guess I'll have to spring for a new one. Lucky me. But again, thanks for trying.
