How to fix: "Server responded with "400" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation"

OS X El Capitan 10.11.6. iMac 2009. Working in Calendar. Tried copying/pasting some info and it failed. Tried again and it failed. Tried again and it failed. Then got message "Server responded with "400" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation" and Calendar was frozen. I suspect system overload in some way. Had to Force Quit Calendar to close it. When tried to reopen Calendar, all the text I had been trying to copy/paste appeared and at the bottom the following message appeared "Server responded with "400" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation". Calendar was again frozen and I had to use Force Quit to close Calendar. What can I do to get around this so that my Calendar will again open and function?

If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer or by using the developer’s uninstall instructions. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

Etrecheck – System Information

Aug 24, 2017 3:49 PM in response to Eric Root

As recommended, I followed Safe Mode startup, then normal boot-up. Downloaded Etrecheck and ran it noting issue with Apps and giving short description of issue with Calendar ("Attempting to copy large batch of information to Calendar. Server responded with "400" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation").

Etrecheck findings are as follows (copy/pasted here from report) for your thoughts on next steps.

EtreCheck version: 3.4.4 (448)

Report generated 2017-08-24 18:35:45

Download EtreCheck from https://etrecheck.com

Thanks. Ran EtreCheck again, did the Clean UP step, ran EtreCheck again and looks "clear" except for one item in a different area. It is:

Launch Agents:

[running] .SM.gul.com.trusteer.rapport.rapportd.plist (hidden) (Trusteer LTD - installed 2017-07-20) [Lookup]

/Library/Rapport/bin/rapportd.app/Contents/MacOS/rapportd

[failed]

I believe this is the Trusteer item said to get rid of as it apparently doesn't work well under Mac OS X. My bank, BofA, initially recommended Trusteer and provided it perhaps 5 years ago or so. I have never had a problem with it (to my knowledge). I see mixed messages about Trusteer online, from doesn't work well with OS X, to Safari not supported (I use Safari), to all is well - confusing. The underlying question then is: If I uninstall Trusteer Rapport what if anything in Mac OS X and/or Safari offers the same protection supposedly received under Trusteer for my financial accounts?

Could the Calendar issue be directly related to the presence of Trusteer? After doing the clean up I opened Calendar and the problem I cited is still present - frozen and unusable with "Server responded with "400" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation" and I had to do a Froce Quit to close it.

The full latest EtreCheck report noted above appears below and the deleted files appear at the bottom of the report.

Not helpful. Cited resolutions all pre-El Capitan V10.11.6. Tried to follow the cited steps to get to bottom of issue, but to no avail.

I have re-started Calendar and it still freezes with an overlay message on it reading "Server responded with "400" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation" and displaying following that message the content of what I was trying to paste. Have to Force Quit to close Calendar. Have tried computer Restart and computer Shut Down and when try to open Calendar I get the same Calendar freeze/message as described above.

Again, I run an iMac 2009 with OS X El Capitan 10.11.6. Is there a set of "walk through" steps that can be followed to resolve this condition/message in this specific OS X configuration?

Get rid of Trusteer. It doesn’t work well under Mac OS.

Trusteer Rapport Uninstall

Aug 25, 2017 11:37 AM in response to Eric Root

No luck, Eric. Added to the previous steps you advised I have now uninstalled Trusteer and restarted my machine. The Calendar freeze is still present as is the same message (Server responded with "400" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation). Hmmmm. Is it possible to uninstall the Calendar program from OS X 10.11.6 and reinstall it from Apple with the hope that it would clear the issue? If this is something to try, is there anything I should FIRST DO do re: the linked from my iMac OS X 10.11.6 Calendar to the Calendars on my iPhone SE iOS 10.3.3, my wife's iPhone SE iOS 10.3.3, and my wife's MacBook Air OS X 10.11.6? I don't want to wipe out the world as I fix an issue on my iMac.

Aug 25, 2017 8:29 PM in response to Eric Root

Combo update installation was unsuccessful. I opened the 10.11.6 Combo Update link and downloaded the update. When I was ready to install it a "Select a Destination" box appeared asking me to "Select the disk where you want install the OS X El Capitan Update Software". Three options were displayed:

Macintosh HD: 389.98 GB available 498.91 GB total

OS X El Capitan Update: 247.2 MB available 1.81 GB total

Seagate Backup Plus Drive (my backup drive): 858.52 GB available 999.86 GB total

Each disk displayed has an icon: "OS X El Capitan can't be installed in this disk. The volume does not meet the requirements for this update."

"About This iMac" (my machine) displays the following information (and other items):

Version 10.11.6

iMac 21.5 inch, late 2009

Processor 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory: 12 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Macintosh HD 500 GB 390.1 free of 498.91 GB

Seagate Backup Plus Drive 857.18 GB free of 999.86 GB

Memory Two Slots with 4 GB each and Two Slots with 2 GB each

So, now what? Apparently there's "no room in the inn" for the update.

Aug 28, 2017 9:43 AM in response to Eric Root

Issue now resolved. Could not figure out why 10.11.6 Combo Update would not install after getting message below reading "OS X El Capitan can't be installed in this disk. The volume does not meet the requirements for this update."

Went to Apple Store Genius Bar. Diagnostics were run and plenty of space available for such an update. Noodled around a bit with the tech who recommended deleting the data I had been trying to copy/paste from the original source (as long as I did not need it). I had a copy of that data so we deleted it from the original source. Once that was done, the Calendar operated perfectly. To be sure, we restarted the machine, opened the calendar, restarted the machine, opened the calendar, and then just reopened the calendar several times in a row. The calendar operated perfectly.

Bottom line: What caused the freeze and why remains unknown - but, a remedy was found that may prove useful for anyone else encountering the message: "Server responded with "400" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation".

Thank you for your detective work and recommendations for a solution.
