Same issue. Its my original ID. All purchases for around 20 years attached to it. All other family members use this ID for purchase in a family share. I can not recall it ever asking for my security questions until recently. After 2 long calls with Apple support they say there is no solution except to try and guess. You get around 10 guesses and then you have to wait around 8 hours to go guessing again. My security questions are quite intuitive for me, but they are not working. There is no way to see if this is an error on my end (Spelling mistake on set up) or their end. Apple has no way to merge or transfer purchase history. No way to reset any other way for these older accounts. I have thousands of dollars of purchases which I will not be able to recover. My login and password work fine, but I can't log into my account unless on my phone or ipad. The fact we can log in and use the account, but cant reset our own security questions or transfer our purchases to another ID is a bad joke.

Hi all. I found a solution. When updating my iphone to the latest ios today (1 Aug 2022 v15.6). It asked me to upgrade my security. I went through the process of updating my security to two factor authentication. From the phone I was able to select a secondary email for two factor, so I created a second gmail account as the. email I had associated with it stated that it could not be verified. I am not sure why, but I then put in the details of the new address. This then also became the apple id sign in, replacing the old one which was only a username (created 20 odd years ago). During this process I was able to set up two factor authentication; bypassing the security question endless loop that we have all been stuck in. I am now able to sign into my apple id from the website again. I am no longer asked the security questions and have to guess. I hope this helps. I did not get the apple support people to suggest this approach after 2 calls, 3 techs and 2 hours on the phone.

So there I was - ready to ditch Microsoft and switch to Apple icloud for all my mail, calendar and contacts and finally escape from the MSoft monster and fully commit to apple - was even planning on buying a Mac. Many reasons why I wanted to do that - main one being all the crap MSoft puts me through when I try to login to my accounts from overseas. I have had an iphone for over 10 years - and on my last trip (just got back) icloud email let me login (windows laptop) from overseas without all the security crap and nightmare. So I download icloud app to the windows laptop and started to setup my icloud account. NO. Apple asks me questions that I gave answers for 10 years ago !! Around and around I go - try here thry there - always end up with the same message. It has been over a week now - every one of the suggestions here does not work - nothing on youtube works - nothing. So screw Apple - I will stay with the MSoft - it is a pain, but it effin works. Icloud app uninstalled - never again - life is too short.

Answers are more important ,if you contact apple support the questions are saved with them , you can obtain from them , but without knowing answers for respective questions , the Apple ID account can't be reset and you will not be able to sign in the account , for that if Apple ID is signed in the device , convert it into 2FA , those set of security questions / answers will be disabled , you can access the account .

Remember a mail will be received in your web account , don't click on the link once again to revert into secondary authentication , let 14 days be completed the account will be stable and now onwards used as 2FA .
