Loose USB c port on MacBook Pro 2017

A few days ago I noticed that the two usb c ports on the left side of my MacBook had gotten noticeably looser than the ports on the other side. I don't really plug things into them more than I plug into the other side so I don't think its from overuse. When the MacBook came all four ports were nice and stiff, they all clicked in and felt like they would stay put. But now the two both just kind of slide into the computer and they don't feel like they will stay in securely. Has anybody else had a problem like this with any of their MacBooks or is it possible I got two defective ports on one side of the computer

hi to all, I withdrew yesterday my macbook, which had the problem at USBC ports, I had to argue a lot with the boy of the Genius bar (what genius ..?) to make me replace the doors. The first guy said that it was a normal thing that wear, to which I am angry saying that from a computer that costs € 3500 (+ 300 Apple care ..) this thing is unacceptable, I also told him that I had read on this community (their ..) of the widespread problem, I also showed him that on the mac exposed the problem is not vrified, and only after having discussed for a long time I managed to make me replace the parts.

Always the Genius (?) He said that he would replace them but the problem would be reified .. It's okay, but I could not even give a simple backup with TM.

In the end they replaced the ports, and also the logic board and the keyboard, perhaps due to the fact that this model of macbook is difficult to repair, and this thing is not good at all, it's okay when Apple Care is active, but the repair invoice, under Apple's charge, is 1097 euros!

the advice I can give you is to demand the repair of the doors, also because the problem is design, and it is them, as I wrote, in the door on the charger, the problem does not arise, and as I pointed out to Genius (?) the number of times I connect the cable to the two sockets (charger and mac) is the same, so it's an obvious design problem ..

satisfied with the repair, but unhappy with how they tried to pretend nothing, if I was not angry and I had mentioned the community, they would not do anything, unacceptable for a brand like Apple, I hope they behave differently, but I did not doubts this way.

I hope I have been helpful

I have the same problem here! I have an expensive £2800 MBP 2017 using external SSDs with virtual machines and USB-c is proving to be disaster ports -- same as video editing, if external drives get disconnected, this causes a big problem and wasted work. I even purchased expensive Belkin USB-C cables to minimize the problem - but now I'm slowly realising it is not the cables : it is the port in the MBP which is becoming looser with use -- this is an expensive Pro machine - I expect Apple to fix this via recall!

I would be super careful using any 3rd party usb c cables. These ports are fragile and if you buy a poorly made cable it will "stretch" the ports. One of my ports is actually not quite allowing the cable to go in all the way. I recommend Apple cables or Anker. The cable should have a noticeable click if it's the proper fit. I have a dongle for an external monitor that has a connector that is poorly made and it slides around and easily disconnects. If a connector is made too large it will likely stretch out the port and then other cables will easily fall out.

It seems kind of shocking to move all connectors over to a single standard that seems to fail to be robust enough for daily use! Perhaps a bit more research into this standard from the point of view of daily use would have been wise before switching everything over! It's definitely a pain point on these machines.
