Three days ago the “TV Shows“ icon disappeared before my very eyes from the Apple TV homescreen. I tried rebooting without success. I tried unplugging it for ten minutes and restarting it, again, without success. Any help how to restore it would be most appreciated.

Note you dont need to reset; the icon dissappeared as a result of updating to ios 11. A new feature is kicking in and defaulting based on your location, but you can change this. Got to settings -> account -> and sigh out of itunes and aapp store (not icloud). once signed out, you will see an option for preferred location. set this back to us and sigh in again. Them your icon will be back 🙂
And dont forget to enjoy the rest of the new feature with ios 11... across the devices!!
It is hard to know. Before leaving, I checked with Apple and they were cool as long as my credit card billing address matched the iTunes Store on the devices. I have been using US SIM free (Israeli SIM in Israel & US SIM in US) iPhone set up the same way without hitches. I am not leaving the US permanently.
Again, thanks for the helpful suggestions and questions. You got me to the point where the only choice left was a full reset. That was valuable.
I have the same problem - just want to check when you say "re install" do you mean you downloaded tvOS 11 and re installed it ? Or did you roll back to tvOS 10
I've assumed the problem has been that I'm not physically in the US but this. Ow gives me hope
1. All stock icons present and accounted for.
2. Network connectivity is correctly configured.
3. Rebooted the modem, router and Apple TV - in that order. No change.
My account is in the US and the region is set to US. Are there other settings?
