I got my new SE today and attempting to remove the sim tray bent it. A friend offered the tray from his unused iphone 5, I can't seem to find online if they are interchangeable. I can order one from apple but that will take a few days.

Yes--I just tested it for you to confirm. I happened to have an SE here for data recovery right in front of me as I read this and just swapped in a tray from a 5 in the donor bucket. Tray fits exactly.

I believe you can. The size of both sim trays are the same. Check just in case.

Given that a 3/4g phone without a tray is useless, it will be either yours or your friend's.
In other words, it appears a tray will have to be purchased sooner or later, though your friend's gesture will permit the enjoyment of the new phone today.
I purchased one off amazon that said it was for the 5 or 5s. When I googled a tear down it did say the sim tray for the 5s was the same as the SE. Nothing difinitively states if the 5 and SE are interchangeable though.
