Can't play ringtone in iOS 11

I too had this problem and everyone else's solutions didn't work for me. I brought this to the attention of Apple Support in December and it escalated to someone who actually believed that this was a real bug. They brought the problem to the engineering team and it took a while but they fixed this bug in today's release of 11.3. This problem has been officially solved.

Dunno if anyone needs this still since it's an old topic but I recently solved this issue by updating everything to the latest version. OS, iTunes and iPhone. (I don't update often.)

Apparently the newer version of iTunes no longer handles ringtones and you have to download a separate app for that but after updating everything my ringtones went back to normal without having to do so. Hope that's useful.

I found ringtones were missing from some of my Contacts.

I got the correct ringtone to work by going into Contacts choose the contact you want the ringtone for, Edit, select ringtone, choose the ringtone called Opening, click Done, Done

Ringtone Sound: Opening now appears in that contacts details

Go back into Edit, now select the correct ringtone you want for that contact, click Done, Done

Ringtone: Sound ”chosen ringtone name” appears

so next time that person phones the correct ringtone should sound.

The first Contact I amended was my own because Ringtone was missing from my contact details.

I bought I phone 7 and I am unable to play my ringtone

It get play in the sound settings but when I get the call I won’t ...I don’t know what’s wrong ...neither I get any sound on notifications and keyboard clicks

I have been having this problem for many months, ever since I got my iPhone 8. None of the solutions posted above have ever worked for me.

I've upgraded to the most recent iOS version (11.4 as of today), and I am still having the same problem. No changes whatsoever. It is NOT fixed, at least not for all users.

I'm sorry to see that hasn't been the case for everyone and I hope that Apple's engineers incorporate a universal solution in the next update.

I have same problem, I did all instruction, but I still with default tone, even having it choose.

I have exactly the same issue on iphone 7, IOS11. Ringtone is defaulted but doesn’t play anymore.

Yes I did. All you had to do was scroll back but here is the answer.
