Can't play ringtone in iOS 11

NO! I am NOT going to give up all of the ringtones Apple forced me to buy! This glitch needs to be FIXED!!! How could they have rolled this update out without testing this glitch??? I’ve been involved in IT testing for many years and this never would have gotten by!!! I’m about ready to get an android and forget Apple!!!

I know. We hate Apple. I had to buy this ringtone made from a song I’d ALREADY purchased back when that was the methodology. If there’s one thing you can count on, it’s Apple figuring out how to make a buck. It’s never just a new phone but cables, ear buds, cases, car adapters... 😡

You sound like a spoiled child. Apple didn't force you to buy a single ringtone. Did someone from Apple come to your house and force you to click purchsase? Of course not. And to be honest, since we're just users we don't care if you go Android. Like Android doesn't ever have issues itself.......LOL

Sorry but I agree with the guy ranting! I to have many specialized ringtones that I use to recognize callers! I paid over 900 for my phone and fully expect it to function properly, this may be petty to you but for lots of us it’s a rather big deal

I've never trivialized this and I understand for some, this is an issue. But in the scheme of life issues, not having one's personalized ringtones, while maybe inconvenient, is not such a big deal it's worth ranting over. Apple always fixes issues like this and you can be assured a solution will be coming. Just be a little patient, unless is just makes you happy to whine?

It's waaaaay too early to give up hope. Apple won't discuss what issues they are working on in advance. You can expect a resolution will roll off the Apple Engineering line at some point. Too many people have complained and written Apple about this.

Still an issue after 11.2 update????

I also have an issue with texting. When I chose a person to text from contacts and click the mobile number it goes back to the list of all my last messages? It doesn't go the blank screen for me text the person. Also when reading an email now and turning the phone sideways to make the screen wider, a dumb side box pops up and blocks half the message? Any help for these?

“Not Solved” - As numerous replies have noted. For me personally, all techniques from this thread have yielded no improvement. From what I understand, a similar bug happened in some former iOS updates. Seems Apple is familiar with the mechanism. Disappointed it was not addressed in 11.03 patch.

I had already done all that and lost all but one purchased tone. Contacted Apple and they couldn’t even figure it out so gave me 3 movie rentals because they can’t refund ringtone purchases apparently. So my assumption is that everyone is have a similar problem but some things don’t work for some that work for others

No, it doesn’t do anything. And I lost all the custom tones on my phone once I connected to iTunes. And all my purchases before the update are not showing, the tech says “that isn’t possible “ so I had to send a photo of no purchases before the update! This was a horrible udate

IOS 11 was a failure in several areas, hence the three quick fixes. The KRACK fix is coming. But there are many more bugs and issues that Apple is ignoring. Camera setting under settings on iPhone is missing the format function that you will find in the same setting on iPad. Zero web cookies are still stuck on my iPhone because they don’t get deleted. Battery life is poor unless you turn off most notifications, I could go on all day. Unfortunately people keep buying more Apple products with buggy software.

Did not work. I have turned phone off. upgraded again. I HATE the other ringtones. I have had my unique classical one for years. I am thinking about changing to another phone although I have had an apple since they first came out,

Your assertions are patently FALSE. Apple is NOT blocking custom ringtones and you can make one today that will work on your phone. There are bugs with this major release, just as there have been bugs with EVERY major iOS upgrade since the phone was released. And Apple works behind the scenes to fix every bug that can be fixed. And if you think this is limited to iOS, you should visit an Android forum sometime. Every time Android brings a major update, similar things happen. It's simply the nature of building a foundation that interacts with millions of users, all who use different applications. And BTW., none of the issues you have listed are happening on my two iP6 phones, nor really anyone else's I know.

rbrylawski??? I didn't make any assertions. amazeme1 speculated that custom and/or non-Apple ringtones were not being supported. I replied that my non-Apple ringtones did work (to offer assistance and clarification to others which is the goal of this forum). i have seen several of your responses on here to a number of folks who who were just trying to work out an issue. They are belittling and unkind. Clearly, you are the one who needs help and have nothing else in your life. Sorry for that dear.
